UPDATE: We have been working on a transitional adoption with BHRR’s Angel Noelle, one of our incredible honorary Giants plus tripdods and to date she has had a play date with me at the home, one play date without me for a few hours which was a bit of a ‘tough love’ for her.

Then on Saturday August 15th she did an overnight date and on Friday August 21st she did a three night date….

I asked the home to please let her have some alone time to bond with him and not just her and it is working.

She is making the transition of bonding much more easily from Sean to them yet, with me she hunkers down and is quite resistive in ‘letting go’. I remain so humbled by her trust and honesty and heart plus soul that she has given me and, we want to make sure that we set all up for success so, in many ways, she is making this transition at a quicker pace than anyone may have thought yet, in a couple of other ways, she remains as I knew she would be so determined to stay ‘latched’ to me, next step, I want to try five nights and, have her come back again and, see if she is ready for the final move forever…..

I am so proud of her…..love her and I know that if I continue to do my job right, she will see me as a pleasant positive memory and experience and not feel her trust has been betrayed and that she has been abandoned….

Steps have been put into place since she became available for adoption to make her that well rounded plus balanced dog and she is showing her future community just how fabu she truly is! Leash manners, social skills, being a ham and so affectionate when she trusts…..

She is so dear to so many of us and patience is going to pay off….

Photo below is courtesy of her new forever loving adoptive home…..

BHRR’s Angel Noelle had a great home-visit and we shall be doing a transitional adoption to this home. She is NOW ADOPTED!
After patiently waiting for 16 months, that right matched forever loving home has come along and how I feel this to be the case is the peace I have in my heart plus soul.
I knew this adoption, when the time came of a right matched forever loving home to find this beautiful girl, that it would be so hard…..on her and me and yet, while my voice did break a few times tonight, I had so much peace, more than I thought I would ever feel and that makes it ‘right’.
It is hard to put into words…..
This girl means the world to so many of us….she went through absolute hell in her past, she has inspired a village, a community, hers on her resilience, her proving that she is perfectly normal as a tripod as we had to remove her leg from the prior abuse she had received.
She has made a world fall in love with her and, she is going to be fine. So many have asked me why do you not keep her, she is so bonded to you and yes, BHRR’s Angel Noelle would lay her life down for me, she has gifted me with her trust, her heart and her life.
Yet, she does not need me….I want a life for this incredible wee dog that is so full of potential, to be one that I have always prepared her for.
I have so much happiness in my heart right now…..yes, there is sadness over the journey ended for her and I yet, wow…..look at the chapters she is going to have in her future!
I can now help another in need of me, thanks to this amazing honourary giant and to the wonderful home that is going to adopt her…..
That BHRR special CHAIN OF SUCCESS lives on strong…..
Our patience and hers waiting for that right matched forever loving home will ensure that BHRR’s Angel Noelle is going to go where she belongs…..
We will always be connected and if I continue to do my ‘job’ right, this transitional adoption will be one of great memories, experiences and a smooth adjustment for home and her!
I am at peace….
Thank you Filomena and Julie for being her first Angels….I sincerely wish you could have been at this hv with me. You would be so proud of her!!! So proud! The compliments on her manners and demeanour and personality were so touching.
Karen thank you again for being her transport angel to me! This incredible dog has brought so many people together!
Aaron, thank you for doing this beautiful home-visit with me!
Thank you to all of her fans, supporters, friends and more for being there for her in her darkest hour and biggest time of need and helping us raise the money needed for her emergency care!
We are truly blessed!
It was hard to get a great photo and we may try for another one later! Thanks Aaron for this lovely shot though!!

Keep positive thoughts in mind please!

AND, my last post of my night! Lots of posts today!
This is a video showing how amazing our honourary giant tripod BHRR’s Angel Noelle is(Salt is doing a cameo!)….she is not treated differently than any of my four legged dogs and, she is not pitied or felt sorry for or spoiled or babied.
We have done a lot of necessary amputations over the past almost 20 years for BHRR focuses on the special needs and people really need to realise that these tripod dogs live amazing quality filled lives….
To put down a dog that could have lived many amazing years if their leg had been amputated, seems like such a shame and, while tripods are not meant for everyone…please do not think that they should have been put to sleep. You should meet them first and they will show you better than any words I could possibly say about how much they are loving life and deserve to live the best that life has to offer!
BHRR’s Angel Noelle is an extremely happy and well adjusted plus balanced young lady and, this video shows that she is more than capable on grass and sand to zip and zoom!
AND she remains under a PENDING ADOPTION with the home-visit scheduled for next Wednesday.
This is on our way back from the horse barn tonight.
LOVE this dog…and I mean LOVE! So much!
No one ever told her that she could not do something and, I am not about to start! She has proven over and over again that she is perfectly normal…..she just may have to problem solve in a different way or be resourceful, yet, she is more than capable of much!
I will post the other video tomorrow…I think I have bombed the BHRR fb page enough today!

BHRR’s Angel Noelle with my Salt(Deaf & Visually Impaired GD) July 31st VIDEO

Here are the x-rays that I am LONG overdue posting from when BHRR’s Angel Noelle went to KAH on an emergency basis back in April 2015.

BHRR’s Angel Noelle, one of our amazing tripods plus honourary Giants is moving under a PENDING ADOPTION!
Please keep her in your best thoughts!
We will update as we can…..

This shall also be a transitional adoption with how bonded, loyal and strongly so, this amazing wee honourary giant is to me.
She is so much better wih going with others and I have different handlers on her at each public awareness event plus she has had her special picnic play dates….

She bonded fiercely as per her breedx’s and her individual temperament. I was the first big true kindness that she knew and she rewarded me with trust, her heart and would lay her life down for me.
I never once felt sorry for h
er or pitied her. She was never spoiled or babied.
When it is her time to be adopted, my heart will rip out with so much happiness for her and I will bawl like a baby in private as I adore her, respect her and am inspired by her.

BHRR’s Angel Noelle had an AMAZING time at our annual KAH/BHRR event today!!! She ROCKED it!

How to describe Day 1 of the amazing PAW weekend at PV Stittsville?!
WOW, Incredible, Humbling, Touching, Outstanding, Beautiful and, Special?! Just a few words…….
The weather was absolutely glorious! The people and animals were beyond lovely and, here is just one of our most wonderful of guests that came out to visit with us today!
BHRR’s Herbie-licious, the Love Bug, BHRR’s Riot and BHRR’s Angel Noelle were the BHRR Guests of Honour today!
There were just so many powerful, emotional, great moments of my day!
Putting faces to names, meeting and talking ‘dogs’ and, ‘BHRR’ and, ‘r/q Rescue’ and, promoting responsible dog ownership etc. was a huge important part of our public awareness day.
People’s hearts were as kind as their hands and, PV Stittsville, YOU sure know how to host an event!
We felt so welcomed and, there was always an extra hand to hold a BHRR doggie so, I could do nails or microchips or ear cleaning etc.
To the Volunteers that came to lend hands and, knowledge and love and understanding and patience and, explain why a group like BHRR is needed and, why we exist, THANK YOU!
To give up such a gorgeous Saturday to spend it with the BIG Dawgs of BHRR, means the world to me! Those strong links on that BHRR “CHAIN OF SUCCESS’
This is our first community education event for 2015, we have not been out since November of 2014, and, to say that we are looking forward to tomorrow with excitement, is putting it lightly!
What a grand day……just grand……
I am going to rest well tonight….my heart is so warmed……just so warmed by all!
The BHRR doggies coming tomorrow are: BHRR’s Salem, BHRR’s Herbie-licious, The Love Bug(by popular demand!) and, I am going to bring my Skor. She has not been out since February to an event, and, this shall be really great for the miracle seizure GD pup!

Everyone’s BHRR’s Angel Noelle has given all a bad scare this afternoon……

I was almost home from work plus errands and, on the laneway when Sean called. He said something was not right with BHRR’s Angel Noelle. I asked what happened and, Sean said he did not know. He said all the dogs were laying enjoying the sun on the brick deck and, in the yard and, when they heard the car engine, they all jumped up…..all but one……BHRR’s Angel Noelle.

He said she was shaking and, panting and, urinating nonstop.
I hung up and drove those last 25-30 m’s down the laneway as if I was off roading.

When she saw me, she almost tried to roll her way to me and, was urinating and, in clear discomfort. She could not stand. She tried but she could not. I quickly checked her over and no obvious breaks, bites, wounds, overt signs of any kind to tell me what was wrong.

I asked Sean to wrap her up, and, I called work asking if there was an emerge slot and, I keep saying this over and over in the past 11 plus years, I work truly with some of the best of the best. I was encouraged to come right in and, I made the drive in a time maybe faster than I should have yet, felt like an eternity.

To give her more space, Sean had laid her on the back seat and, it was odd not seeing her in her usual shotgun spot beside. I checked on her many times on my way in and, though in pain and not able to move her lower body, she would wag her tail, and pee.
She would lick my fingers and, I assured her calmly and softly several times over that she was heading into a great place that would do all they could to help her.

As soon as I arrived to KAH, I was ushered to the back and, things out in motion. She was so stressed, the Diarrhea then started. All involved in her case were so kind, compassionate and, caring. They think she is a special tripod also.

No clear breaks found by her Vet – and, thank you to him and to the clients in the exam room that understood – he did not feel her cruciates were affected and, her back felt aligned well. No major pain response given. She still could not stand yet, tried so hard.

At one point, she was wobbly bobbly on her feet yet, keeling over on her left side.

Sedation and x-days done – no trauma, breaks, hips were not dislocated, cruciates look good and, were examined again. No disc disease etc….

No temperature, heart was good and, her Vet feels that somehow she developed a soft tissue injury – we all hope – and, she had the hydro when she was there for sedation and will have Deramaxx starting tonight plus metro for the diarrhea. She had had a normal stool that AM.

She was soaked in urine and, per her Vet, he felt perhaps bruising occurred that affected her urethera sphincter.

If she does not improve by tomorrow, we are back in.  There is no obvious reason as to why she is not walking.

For anyone wishing to contribute to her mounting vet bills, as always, we do appreciate any consideration, and, this wee angel is worth every dime, nickel plus, may we ask people to contact Kanata Animal Hospital directly? 613-836-2848

Her file is under her name ‘Angel Noelle’ with Birch Haven Rescue and Rehabilitation Services.

Most importantly, please keep this amazing miracle dog in your best wishes…..it is going to be a long night….she always sleeps in a crate beside me and, tonight, she sleeps with me.

*Feeling good on Hydromorphone sedation medication and, then, they really set in and, down she went…..*

We want thank everyone that has come out AND, also to those that are still here from our latest BHRR ‘EXPERIENCE’ mini open house. 🙂
April is such an icky time here yet, the day has turned out lovely in weather and folks!
The 50/50 was won by you Clifford Chan! $132.50! There was no phone number on the ticket yet, we have Lianne’s! 🙂
People and dogs did great in the space and, only one moment of excitement that quickly was gotten under control and, what is an ‘EXPERIENCE’ without that!
Full moon per the calendar!!!
Dogs are flaked out and, grand total to be announced later of what was raised today once Mary counts all yet, the loving hands and caring hearts were felt all over!
AND, the food!! AMAZING!
We want to thank everyone for coming and, spending time here and, registration shall open up for our June ‘EXPERIENCE’ shortly. Love BHRR in June!
Tonight I get to enjoy all the doggies together before 21 of them head back to their approved temp fosters AND, we can then dismantle all the crates!
BHRR’s Angel Noelle says thank you also!!

11080876_826497047417128_7590117478916163359_o

This is the second BHRR beauty that had her annual today at KAH. BHRR’s Angel Noelle AKA my spoiled ‘rotten baby’! Today, she weighed a quite plump 22.4 KGS(49.28 pounds). While, I know she is still young and shall do some filling out, that is way too much for her. She is significantly up from last year, regardless if she is still growing/maturing some. She was just over 17 Kgs last year. I would like to see her lose about 2.5 kgs to start.
So, in conversing with her wonderful approved temp foster mom, I learned that though kibble portions were great, a bit more treats than we would like to see had been going into BHRR’s Angel Noelle. So, a lot less treats, and, more praise shall be heading this wee delights way moving forward!
She traveled great in the car, was fantastic until we hit the exam room and, then, she was FABU for all of about ten minutes and, as soon as it was vaccine time, the first one, super trooper…..the second one, the wiggles started…..
By the time it came to doing her Heartworm test, it was all hands on deck for the wiggle monkey!
Her heart and lungs are a thumbs up! Her healthy soft coat received two thumbs up and, she sure charmed all with those eyes of hers, if the number of treats that headed her way was any indication…..I am giving praise and, her kind Vet is giving her treats….
She is going to be staying back with me until the end of March now as her lovely approved temp foster home is headed south for the March Break plus.
We will work on the exercise and food/treat balance.
Her leg amputation site looks great and, she remains available for adoption to that right matched forever loving home.
She has continued to garner interest yet, the wrong kind. She is more than capable(we reside on almost 148 acres) of playing, walking and yes, she runs very well plus does stairs….BUT, we reside on sand and grass and, have lots of snow right now.
She is not meant to pound the pavement and, she will not go to a home that will make her move on pavement for any extended period of time. That is way too hard on her.
You give her sand and grass and snow and, then just watch her go!
She is not meant to be placed in a glass bubble yet, at the same time, I do not want her poor body ruined as someone wanted to walk her on pavement 5 km’s or more each day. Her heart is so big, that she would do anything her loved ones asked of her, regardless of how it would ruin her body….
When I am out hacking for a short bit on the property, this incredible girl comes with me….she is fit(well, a little less right now with some pudge!), active and, healthy. She needs the right foundation to walk and run on.
I cannot believe that she remains up for adoption yet, we are patient and, she lacks for nothing as she has a great big special fan club and, many friends!
This photo is after her busy day!!

BHRR’s Bloom and BHRR’s Angel Noelle are scheduled for their annuals on Friday March 6th. 🙂

We continue to be patient that their right matched forever loving homes shall find them.

GENTLE Reminder:
BHRR's Gretta's angels have been working quietly plus hard behind the scenes on a special Fundraiser event to help raise some much needed monies to help her with the bills from her cruciate repair surgery and rehab journey.
Thanks is appreciatively extended to Pet Valu – Manotick for helping us, AND, for hosting this event on Sunday February 15th, 2015 from 10 AM – 4 PM

No APPOINTMENTS necessary!
BHRR is still ISO: two more approved BHRR Volunteers willing and open to helping lend a hand that day!
This is not a community education or public awareness event for BHRR yet, we will have some merchandise for sale such as our signature leash sleeves plus magnets. smile emoticon
Please email contactbhrr@gmail.com
THANKS once again MUST be shouted out to BHRR BOD member B. Cole for such an amazing poster!

Winter Wonderland At BHRR
February 3rd, 2015
It was time for a new and updated Photo!
All of them are waiting for the kids to come home from school – what they do not seem to realize is Mason was already home! 😉
Part of how I got to spend my Birthday….many of our approved temp fosters have come to spend the day to play and visit – my own car would not start – darn cold! – and, so, instead of meeting at a local 'best kept secret' walking place, they came here to play on our 148 acres!

Back in December, Fran from Global Pet Foods Bank Street (1176 Bank Street) phoned plus emailed us to inquire as to our thoughts in being the rescue to benefit from the annual Global 'Show Us Your Heart' Campaign.https://www.facebook.com/GlobalPetsBank
Fran said that they have been following some of the great work that BHRR has been doing and, wanted to direct funds raised during their annual campaign in 2015, our way.
To say that we felt humbled and deeply honoured, was putting it lightly. We feel so privileged to have been chosen by Global Pet Foods Bank Street, out of so many out there in the community doing such much needed and essential work helping animals…….
This exciting campaign begins January 31st and shall run through to February 14th, 2015
If you visit their store, you can make a donation in any amount you desire, and, you can write your name or that of your beloved pet(s) on a beautiful red heart and, it will be displayed with such pride and thanks at their store!
All monies raised shall go towards BHRR's Gretta's Vet Bills – she took a bad fall at her approved temp foster home and, we have to now repair the cruciate in her back left leg. Her surgery is January 29th at Liston Animal Hospital. It was the first surgical date we could get…….
Thank you Global Pet Foods Bank Street AGAIN for selecting our small r/q Rescue to support……be it $5 or $50 or more that is raised during your annual campaign, it will mean the world to us!!! AND, to BHRR's Gretta!
Barry, thank you SO much again for working with me on this poster. It is gorgeous!

Poster - Message (HTML) _2014-11-24_23-41-11

NOTICE:
BHRR does not adopt out during the XMAS season due to our position that it is not in the best interest of any new addition being added during such a busy, exciting and somewhat stressful time for many.
Quite a few other Rescues, Shelters, Pounds etc. have also begun to follow a similar protocol to what we have been doing for so many years.
Our XMAS Shut down period for this year is from Monday December 15th, 2014 to Tuesday January 6th 2015 inclusive.
Any applications received during this time will be processed/reviewed on Wednesday January 7th, 2015!
During this time, BHRR is available 24/7 as always for requests for assistance of animals in need and will do intake.
Thank you for your continued understanding – The BHRR Team

BHRR's Last 'EXPERIENCE' Mini Open House of 2014!
November 23rd, 2014
We cannot thank the 40+ attendees that came out to spend the day and, part of the evening with us!
These are just a few of the amazing BHRR dogs all lined up waiting for the latest 'fresh meat' arrivals to arrive to love on, lean on, drool on, sit on and, be spoiled in turn!
THANKS to all those that came, $628 was raised in donations and our 50/50(Thanks again to Terry for donating his winnings back $87 to help us with BHRR's Stafford's care!).
$204 of those monies raised came from Kathy Rader-Cahill's surprise! She sold dog treats in her home town and, yup, tears welled up……
So proud of all the dogs! The comments and compliments continue to roll in with how social, well behaved, trained and outstanding these dogs are – AND, to think many of them were *labeled* aggressive prior to r/q rescue….So unfortunate….
Even, our newest additions of BHRR's Oakley, BHRR's Victory, BHRR's Ichabod Crane, BHRR's Salem, BHRR's Merlin and BHRR's Stafford ROCKED it!
Thanks everyone for the support, kindness, those that dropped off their SS.'s Plus ALL the yummy food/drink items to help us host another fabu event AND, for understanding the importance of why BHRR exists and, that we, value you as each of our strong LINKS on our 'CHAIN OF SUCCESS'!
WP_20141123_15_49_40_Pro1

What another great year going out and visiting friends, putting faces to lovely folks, making new friends it was again this year at Pet Expo!
BHRR never sets up a booth at this event yet, we try to make it out every year on the Sunday in a show of support to others, by walking around, talking, laughing and, yes, socializing dogs! AND, as usual always a few welling up a tears!
From the moment we parked, Kinsley and I were almost mobbed!
I decided to leave the really big dawgs at home this year and, though, we could not connect as originally planned with friends in the AM to roam and scope; we were still able to get there by early afternoon and, gosh, what fun!!
Some recognised us as being BHRR folk by seeing BHRR's Angel Noelle and, the photo below is of a lovely women that I have known for a couple of years yet, we had yet, had the opportunity to meet face-to-face! She came over and, like a responsible dog owner(most were very responsible today!) asked if she could play with the dogs.
I told her who the dogs were and light bulbs went up on both of our sides and, it was like seeing an old friend!
Thank you again Janice for the gorgeous 'ADOPT ME' collar you bought for BHRR's Angel Noelle!
Thank you G. from New Beginnings for the donation of a 'I Need Space' collar to match the leash I bought! I was so happy that you had some left! AND, thank you for helping me to place it on my body so, people would 'respect' my personal space!! LOL
So many people that we saw!!! I know I am going to miss some!
Thanks has to be sent out to Regan and Marg of New Moon Rabbit Rescue for the great space to chill and relax and, talk.
Allie of Allie Pets, always a blast seeing you!
I was able to get waves in to Karla, Maggie with her gorgeous Aria, Dr. McKenna, Penny, Julie, France, Laurie short chat with Andrea and others of ODR plus with Brigitte of GDR, saw Sara L from a distance as she was doing her magic with the dogs with Flyball and, the time flew by!
I even got to do some loving on BHRR's Freedom(now known as Duncan) when his mom and dad stopped me. He left drool on me that I then managed to leave back on him!!
Only two moments that made me shake my head – Kajun Koffee decided that despite two visits outside to pee, he felt the cement by the Flyball was a great spot! Ooops!
AND, as someone that has been in these rescue trenches almost 27 years and, that Danes are very much my breed PLUS have 'just' a few years of behavioural education under my belt – 14 and counting, not to mention 27 in experience – just as not all dogs should be at a dog park, for behavioural and/or physical reasons, same as with events like this….. Still shaking my head over that one moment experienced……
Another great year had with so many awesome people and dogs and, looking forward to head out again in 2015 to show our support to other groups plus businesses there!

We do not adopt out around the Halloween season and many others Rescues, shelters, pounds etc. have also begun to follow a similar protocol.

We do not believe it is in the best interest of the animals in our program, especially for dark coloured dogs.

During this time, BHRR is available 24/7 as always for requests for assistance of animals in need.

FINAL (Medium)

BHRR's Angel Noelle had her special picnic date on Wednesday May 21st! 🙂 A lovely time was had by all! Below are some photo's of her and some words from the home. I had sent them an email in the afternoon just to touch base and, see how things were going. 🙂 Thank you SO much for giving her this wonderful positive experience. She was still very worried when I left yet, settled faster this time than, her first time without me and, with three children and, another dog(close in age) to play with this time around, she did so well!!! She was over the moon ecstatic to see me and, I missed her too BUT, she does not need me any longer and, hoping that her right matched forever loving home shall find her soon. 🙂 If not, we remain patient.

I did explain to the home that when BHRR's Noelle settles in, she is a lot less quiet and loves to play and interact. 😉 Photo's are courtesy of the home – Cherie M. Thank you!

"Actually, it is going really well.  My girls really love Angel Noelle.  Her tail is finally up and wagging!  🙂  (when she first got here, it was a little wag and tight to her bum)  Right now, the pups are outside.  Angel Noelle seems to be keeping X calm!!  🙂  At one point, I think X was jealous with all the attention Angel Noelle, so X flopped down in the hallway and gave a big sigh.  Angel Noelle went over and touch noses with her.  (like to say "what's wrong?")  Very cute. We are having such a great time.  She is such a lovely dog and so quiet!"

Here is a blog post made recently made by the kind person who won the special date with BHRR's Angel Noelle's from her Breaking Bills Baking online auction. This picnic date was held on March 2nd, 2014.

Post can be read HERE!

She was at PV Hazeldean on Saturday for our 2nd Community Education/Public Awareness Event of 2014 and, as always, a very popular girl! She just keeps getting better and better AND, this time, she had very little worries about leaving with either one of the two BHRR approved Volunteers that came to assist that day! OR, with another person who visited, who had adopted from us in the past.

Next up for her is the special date won by the family from our 3rd ANNUAL 1-on-1 Date Auction! The family drove all the way from Orleans on Saturday to visit us at PV Hazeldean and, were so wonderfully surprised to find that BHRR's Angel Noelle was also in attendance. What a lovely family! Just lovely!

Here are a couple of photo's of BHRR's Angel Noelle from the PV PAWS Event Weekend! She came out with us on the Saturday(the 12th) and, Race from Hot 89.9 LOVED her! Tweeted & took photo's of her throughout the day also.

We continue to be patient for that right matched forever loving home to find her and, she has a special 1-on-1 Date coming up from our recent 3rd Annual Online Auction that we hosted! 🙂

So, I have always suspected that BHRR's Angel Noelle had Bulldog in her…CHECK out this photo below! This is from an ad sent my way of a 7 month old female 'Olde English Bulldog'. IS there not more than a passing resemblance to this female and BHRR's Angel Noelle?

I am leaning more and more towards a 'possible' bulldog/beagle yet, as always, she is who she is and, is 100% gorgeous! 🙂

It is hard to believe that the TIME has come! It has been a remarkable and beautiful journey with this wee ‘giant’ of an ANGEL! 🙂

She first came on my radar on December 24th, 2013 and, with ALL those that stepped up to help BHRR help her, SHE has a very exciting announcement to make! BHRR’s Noelle(this is what we call her), is NOW AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION! 🙂

She came to the PV Stittsville nail trim/grind event on Saturday March 22nd and ROCKED it! She went ‘relatively’ willingly with other people – THANKS Tanya for taking her out for that poop! 😉 AND, she continued to demonstrate how much she adores kids! Bryson – about 3.5 years of age – took her leash and like a pro walked her and ran her 😉 around the store! She was a willing participant in all of his mischievous shenanigans! LOL As people have continued to remark, she is very bonded to me and, I keep working on her getting into the hands of other trusted folks to get her to ‘let go’ a bit.

When I arrived home last Tuesday from being out of the country, she would not let me get an inch between her and me! LOL Photo below of her and my beloved PPSS snuggling in welcome to me in coming home! I live a very blessed life as do those of all of our approved temp fosters! We now have 14 of our dogs in amazing approved temp foster homes! 🙂 We could not do what we do without them! Most of these homes have temp fostered for us before and many are also previous approved adoptive homes! 🙂 CHAIN OF SUCCESS! 🙂 Quality all the way! 🙂 People out there helping us to do things the right way and in r/q rescue for all the right reasons. 🙂

BHRR’s Angel Noelle received her final booster at KAH on Saturday and her weigh was 17.2 KGS(37.84 pounds). She was a tiny bit taller when I arrived home and is in FABU body condition! No fat or chunky monkey any longer and with the additional height and growing – she will be 9 months next week – is in fantastic health! The Vet that did her DAPP booster remarked how far she has come! She was once terrified of him yet, not this time…she just did her ‘pretty sits'(I have been working with her on these to help build up her the muscles plus strength in her back legs) and did her perfect ‘sit and stay’ and also, went on her back legs and put her paws on his waist ‘trying to tell him that she needs more treats!’ LOL

This girl has touched SO many all over and, she can go to a home that has at least one other dog(I would love this) that is a right personality fit dog, or be an only dog BUT I want to know that she has a great social network of doggie friends that she will see regularly FOR she will NOT want to share her owner – she can be sneaky about how she resources for she will wedge herself between you and another human or dog and ‘pretend’ it was all innocent…she does that in order to get treats too….’Wait, I did not get one yet…do not forget about me?’ she will say with those eyes… LOL

She is not a wallflower….she will need an experienced home that will not allow her to run the house OR you will be sleeping on the floor and her, on the bed! 😉 She is crate trained and, I rotate allowing her to sleep out of the crate or in the crate to help keep her mindful that she is not “QUEEN’ of all. She will often even go into her crate in the middle of the night, on those nights she is allowed out, and just sleep.

She is fearless! She is brilliant and would make an great obedience partner yet, people do have to be mindful that she is a tripod and should not be pounding around and, this does not mean that she should be carried and not allowed to run and run for hours. Just watch the pavement and bad surfaces and slippery surfaces and let her rest when she needs to. She should not be coddled or babied or pitied or put in a glass bubble. She does NOT feel sorry for herself and neither should anyone else. She is a very active girl and has become so strong. She bombs along in our three plus acres of fenced in yard and plays, and jumps and is very resourceful in figuring our puzzles and getting what she wants. THAT face is irresistible to many and, as I have said in the past ‘DO NOT LOOK INTO THE EYES FOR LONG!’ 😉 You will be swept away. Her eyes are stunning….just so intelligent, gorgeous and the trust she has placed in me, just humbles me to my core.

She can go to a home that works ft, pt, from home, is semi-retired or retired. She has had has a tendency to want to chase cats yet, she has gotten better and with more training, proper integration/exposure, and maturity on her part, she could well do great.

I could count a million and one ways of how MUCH I love and adore and respect and admire this girl…..and, to any home that proves to be that right matched one for her, YOU are getting a precious gift…..when BHRR’s Noelle gives you her heart…she will be giving you what feels like the world!

We are about $500 short to finish paying of her bills AND, if anyone may consider her cause, we would be so grateful!!! I had to list ALL of her angels again FOR without YOU, we would not have been able to do what we did for her! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! 🙂 We know who you are and, are eternally grateful! 🙂

GENTLE REMINDER & UPDATEThis event will NOW also be used to also help BHRR’s Porridge – Rushed into KAH March 19th for when I returned from being out of the country, he was not well. He had dropped 3 KGs(6.6 pounds) – he is down to 74 KGs, had a nasal discharge, flared nostrils, no temp yet, belly breathing and could not breathe with his mouth closed, had not drank anything in over 24 hours, minimal eating, lethargic, swollen lymph nodes and, could not rest on his side(his fav resting spot).

PORRIDGE VET RESULTS TO DATE: Full exam done, lungs sounded ok, did a full blood work up including a heart blood test(awaiting results, we could not use Dormitor(if he did have a heart condition, this would be not in his best interest) to sedate for x-rays and the Torb barely took his anxiety edge off(we were not able to do his nails as he needs the Dorm also to sedate him) and, we could only get the right lat for x-rays yet, the heart on that side look almost completely normal. There was no noticeable bulge or significant enlargement yet, we had to take four shots to get his full chest and lungs just of the one side and the left side could not be completed at this time. We took biopsies of his lymph nodes, heart rate was elevated. The staff there noted how poor his energy level was from his norm ‘must maim with my happy tail and enthusiasm hyper harle happy boy ‘tude’ and while, he did eat some wet canned food, he had a hard time trying to eat anything dry and could only take one dry piece of T/D that was offered to him. The Vet has prescribed Doxy for him 4 tabs BID of the 100 mg IN case it may be infection related yet, he would not be presented ‘classically’ if that were the case. Yet, we are being proactive from all angles.

He went down hill so fast while I was away and, I thank all for monitoring him and I have trusted and do trust that those that were here, did keep his best interest at heart and, did not see fit to bring him in. I was completely ok for hi to go in for peace of mind and, I had been told that he was eating and drinking well and energy level was ok, no nasal discharge and lungs were clear(one person here is a nurse). In discussing him in more depth tonight with some of the wonderful souls that were here, it was noted that a weight loss had been seen, that drinking levels had gone down and energy level had changed. He was apparently fine and completely normal up to late last week and, I arrived home on Tuesday early afternoon. Whatever he has, it is aggressive….. 🙁

AND, in the 24+ hours that I have been home, his condition from there worsened further and, I jumped in bringing him in ASAP. Even called KAH to change his appointment to an earlier time slot.

Possible diagnosis at this time range from early heart to early lymphoma to early nasal tumor. Good case scenario, an infection of some sort.

AND, here is the PV Stittsville, Nail Trim Event Poster! $15 for grinds/$10 for Trims on Saturday March 22nd from 10 am – 5 pm, and, all money shall benefit BHRR’s Coach, our ‘heart’ boy!

Purse Puppy Coach shall be coming with me after my work shift on March 22nd,  – around 2:30 PM to visit and thank all those that will be there AND, he will be doing ‘KUDDLES 4 KASH’ to also help raise some money for his bills. AND, for those that have had the pleasure of hugging this boy, he is DELIGHTFUL! I may also bring BHRR’s Angel Noelle or perhaps BHRR’s Torque! 🙂

On Tuesday March 4th, BHRR’s Purse Puppy’s Coach weight was 14.9 KGs(37.78 pounds)! Since his arrival into Rescue, he has put on 34.28 pounds! 🙂 In just 14 weeks! 🙂

I have a huge blog post to make from this Vet visit and then coming back the next day for emergency x-rays and an ECG (the results were suppose to be back within 24 hours….) and, from there, the next steps for him. I have the report from the one Vet to post and, I have passed along all information and details to PVAR who have the other two puppies and who adopted the mom. At the minimum, it is believed that he has a congenital condition. 🙁 AND, the chances that HE is the only one in that large litter to have this condition is slim to none.

As I am heading offline for the next week+, blog updates will be to a minimum to none – SORRY! 🙁 I am going out of the country and later this year, also plan on going back out of the country as I have been invited to Costa Rica and Nicarauga to assist/train/mentor in a spay/neuter clinic and, to work with the strays etc. over there.  So, I will post as I can and, thanks to all that follow the blogs!!! 🙂

Now, we just have to have those right matched forever loving homes find all of these great BHRR doggies that are AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION! 🙂

Nailtrim (Medium)

BHRR’s Angel Noelle had her special ‘BREAKING BILLS BAKE’ Online Auction date with the winner on Sunday. This was the first time she was without me and, I prepared the home that she would be a bit nervous and confused and worried and to act normal plus passively ignore any behavours to not enable her.

I recommended to the home(THANK YOU again so much in giving her this amazing experience!) to not take her for a walk as she is a flight risk without me and, to make her work for her treats for, she is smart and, if she is going to only get treats to come to someone, she is not going to listen to them otherwise. 😉 They did take her out in their fenced in yard with her on leash.

I stayed with her for a bit, then had the home distract her and then, left for 2.5 hours. This is the next important plus crucial step for her to get ready to be placed up for adoption. She needs to continue to get out of my hands, into the hands of others and to keep getting wonderful experiences and memories with loving hands to continue her along the great foundation being built here that not all humans are cruel. Plus, to keep making her the best dog she can be and becoming more well balanced and adjusted sans moi.

I told the home that she could still be worried about men and, to just take it easy with her plus patient and, understanding. Needless to say, she ‘knew’ something was up and as I was pulling out the drive-way(she was not distracted for long!), I could see her at the door. Yet, ‘tough love’ and, I knew she would be fine. We were both going to be fine! 😉

When I came back, the excitement and joy made the gentleman of the house say ‘WOW…I thought she was going to eat you up, she was so excited and happy to see you again!’. Yup! She is bonded to me and, I am very much bonded to her and, once again, people should be more concerned if these dogs were not happy to be around me and want to be with me. 🙂

I then stayed for a bit and, you could see BHRR’s Angel Noelle relaxing more and more. The home has offered to have another play date with her and, I am very grateful for the next time, she will not be as stressed with them. This Play Date and Play Visit program of BHRR is so essential to our CHAIN OF SUCCESS and, I am seeing more and more groups plus folks do this with their own organizations and, even their own dogs. 🙂 LOVE It! 🙂

I had SOOOOOOOOOOOO many photo’s to post yet, I will start off with these two posted below….the first is in the snow as I was getting ready to put her in the car. SHE is so photogenic! BHRR’s Angel Noelle loves the car now!

She also came with me to drop off The BHRR Flower Girl’s to their play date and, and to pick them up and, that home mentioned about how well behaved she is for such a young pup. Lovely compliment to have received! We do not use fear to rule here. We are positive based all the way and, patience, time, consistency, positive methods and obedience with structure, and routine with a huge toss in of love works wonders! 😉 It also helps having almost 15 years of formal education to add to the 26 years of experience obtained through r/q rescue work, training, rehabilitation plus behavoural work.

We still need to raise just over $600 to pay of her remaining bills and, I hope that her growing fan club plus village may consider her cause!!! She is such a special dog….to many of us that surrounded her in strength and belief!

BHRR’s Angel Noelle – March 2nd, 2014

NoelleMarch22014photo 3

BHRR's Angel Noelle is going on her special date tomorrow with the person who won the date on the Breaking Bills Bake Auction we hosted to help raise much needed funds for her bills.

AND, my worry that this tenacious, fearless dog would end up with a coyote encounter came true. 🙁 🙁 I told so many on February 15th, both at KAH and the PV Event, that I was worried that with them becoming a nuisance again that, she was going to get nicked through the fence and this wee thing ended up with the tip of her ear snagged…..so antibiotics for her.

Just this past week, my Matrix, AKA Turtle got nabbed. These past two winters have been just brutal with the coyotes. One of the lovelies that I work will also said that her father had to shoot a coyote near their own horse barn as it was becoming increasingly aggressive and aggressive. 🙁

Please consider heading to PV Stittsville to participate in our FIRST EVER(Annual or Bi-Annual – not decided as of yet) $5(Five) 4 Food Fundraiser – February 1st to February 28th inclusive!
$1,518.00 DONATED To Date as of February 22nd, 2014!

I want to thank PV Stittsville immensely for being so open and supportive for BHRR to have our unique and creative Fundraiser at their lovely store! All money donated is being used to buy Dog Food from their store. As the generous, kind and extremely thoughtful donations are coming in, the incredible staff at PV Stittsville are using the funds to buy dog food as we are in our food crisis now. Sean has already gone in to pick up what food has been bought to date and, I will be in on Saturday to pick up the next bags that thanks to the community's big hearts, more is continuing to be able to be purchased.

We are hoping that this Fundraiser shall be successful! We are so happy to be showing our own hearts in turn to the store that is making this all possible and to buy all the food we can with the monies that come in. THANK YOU to the village that is surrounding BHRR and, PV Stittsville!!

AND, the 2nd annual PV Stittsville Secret Admirer Sweetheart Knuckle Bones Event is in full swing! 11 have already been purchased to donate to the animals(each BHRR dog has a photo attached to one bone) of BHRR! TY! TY! Be sure to visit PV Stittsville, while BHRR DOGGIES LAST! 🙂

I am not quite sure where to start in expressing thanks and gratitude for Saturday February 15th, 2014 shall forever be marked upon my heart and soul as one of the most touching, supportive, kind, generous, thoughtful, giving and full of amazing surprises EVER of days!

To all the wonderful souls that have shared, cross-posted, came out, or sent lovely emails/texts etc., I wanted to also make a BIG and personal THANK YOU on this blog post for BHRR's Angel Noelle. WHAT has been done for BHRR's Angel Noelle BY each of you, plus for the other BHRR dogs is massive!

Saturday's Event Raised:
$315 in nail trims
3 bags of Dog food were donated ($149.97)
$50 in other donations for Food purchases
$107 in BHRR's Angel Noelle's KISSES 4 KASH!
Grand Total: $472
Breanne Jacklin & ALL of the amazing supportive, caring and giving folks of PV Stittsville, THANK you for contacting us and asking, if you could hold this event for BHRR!
On a side note, the $5(Five) for Food Fundraiser runs right through until the end of February!
This wee 'giant' will be obtaining her booster in a few weeks, and, then shall be ready to be placed up for adoption! Her Vets have stated that she has healed so beautifully, that she will not require alternative therapy such as CWW! WTG!

With her not having to go to CWW, her final final bills are estimated to be over $5,000. We have to have another exam, her boosters, more revolution etc. BHRR does not have any Fundraisers planned until April. That shall be our Third Annual 1-on-1 Special Date ONLINE Auction! We hope that the community/village of BHRR may consider making a donation to her care!

Some photo's of Saturday below! 🙂 What a beautiful day….smiles, laughter, great conversation, some tears(YUP!) and, we were even informed by a wonderful PV lovely, that we helped a man through his fear of dogs! There were so many people that came to visit this amazing 'wee' giant, that we literally took over the store and, I kept apologizing to Bre at PV Stittsville.

I am so glad that BHRR's Angel Noelle also had a great time at the Vet with me on Saturday(we headed over to PV Stittsville, once my shift ended so that she could visit and thank as many people as possible for helping her AND gave Kisses 4 Kash!). To have had a Vet visit without being poked, prodded, having a surgery etc., was very important. We did trim up her nails…I sound like a broken record, yet, it is very important to me for these dogs to get into the hands of others to keep making them well rounded plus well balanced. So, I had one of the lovelies I work with trim up her nails and, she rocked as always! She was only mildly nervous of a few people at KAH and at PV and, as the day went on, she was better and better…she is a food/treat hound!

She also had lost .5 of a kg(1.1 pounds)! YAY! YAY! Just a wee bit more to go and, she will be fabu! Obese dogs are one of my huge pet peeves. Breaks my heart….

AND, at PV Stittsville, only one man made her nervous yet, he was wearing a hat, and, had his hands in his pocket and he did reach over her head….ONCE, BHRR's Noelle realised that all of this attention and loving was for her, she was soaking it up, exploring the store, AND, she LOVES LOVES LOVES kids….from the moment, she arrive to BHRR, she has loved children. We would love to see her in a home with children. She is more than making leaps and bounds…she is stunning the medical profession and, the compliments again, on her gorgeous shiny coat both at KAH and at the event, was heartwarming…all about great nutrition/Vet care, proper exercise and love! 🙂 Something that we have to know a great deal about at BHRR to do what we do and have the success that we have!

A lot of people also commented on how bonded she was with me….that she is…..and, when a friend of mine comes back from her Vacation, she is going to take her for a weekend to help give her good experiences and to keep building upon the strong foundation that has been built at BHRR.

Quite a few people have asked why am I not keeping this dog that is so focused  on me and adores me and, this will be a very hard one for me…they are all in their own ways, yet, she will not need me much longer and, if I do my job right, that best matched fit home for her, will keep building upon what I have done with her here and worked so hard to so for/with her AND, will stay in touch. 🙂 We would not fundraise and, have others pay for a dog that we would be keeping ourselves. I go back to Matrix, the GD hit by a hammer. Not one fundraiser was done or one penny donated to his bills. That was all out of my own pocket. We believe in full disclosure and, shall continue being an open book.

The other wonderful compliment received was her obedience. As a properly qualified/certified trainer and behavoural expert – of 26 years  and counting – , obedience and behavoural modification is an essential part of BHRR – 'Rehabilitation' is in our name for a reason. This does not mean that any right matched forever loving home is not required to take her to the mandatory obedience classes.

I do have to giggle at the number of people that exclaimed how 'small' she was. Yup! A 'wee' giant of BHRR, yet, a special needs one and such a WOW dog at that! Her photo's etc. make her appear a lot larger than people thought and, her personality is LARGER than life. AND, small or not, she sure has take a HUGE hold on a lot of folks hearts/souls out there…below is one very special guest post entry from a really amazing person that came out to visit her. This person is one of BHRR's Angel Noelle's army of angels!

"It was such an honour to meet Angel Noelle. I had to go outside and cry privately my tears of joy. She is an amazing spirit and a true testament to what BHRR does best. There must be some magic at the Boer's house.
Dawn S"

BHRR's Angel Noelle – February 15th, 2014 – PV Stittsville – NOW, is that not a happy dog?! ONE deserving dog too! 😉

**NEW** URGENT: SEEKING BATH MATS For BHRR’s Angel Noelle – PLEASE EMAIL

Feb. 3rd(TODAY) is Gwennie’s Birthday!
Please consider a donation to help with one of the most precious of things to Gwennie! – DOG FOOD! FOOD = LIFE!
I asked her what she wanted for her Birthday and, as always, she said, nothing for herself.

Instead what Gwennie asked for people to consider is to make a $5.00 donation to a cause near and dear to their own hearts. Be it a r/q animal rescue, human or environmental etc. To make a group/organization have a much better plus brighter day thanks to said donation and also, for those that benefit from the work that the  group/organization does!

BHRR’s Angel Noelle is doing well on her meds and, she shall be headed in for a recheck later this week. If she is is on top of the infection, she will have her first vaccines and, from there, 3-4 weeks later, her boosters(At BHRR, we are not like other groups, we give all the animals their full course of vaccines to get them utd prior to be adopted…..we do not pass along that expense to any future adoptive home). After another two weeks, she will then be placed up for adoption. 🙂 YAY! So, in about 7 weeks time, should all go well, she will be ready to make a very special announcement!

We continue to work on getting her bills paid for and THANK YOU again to all that are standing strong by her side as her village to make this miracle happen for her! 🙂 THANK you to those that contacted myself after my last blog post for her and expressed their support and also, their shock that anyone could say the things they have about this special girl, especially by ‘that’ home. It is appreciated!

We continue to fundraiser to get the rest of her bills paid for and, on Saturday night, for the guests that stayed for dinner and to visit, she even asked one of them(a man to boot! – so, we are working wonderfully through this terror she once had), to be picked up. She has never asked anyone other than myself to do that and yup! I was so excited plus happy yet, also a tiny bit jealous in my heart and freely, admit it! 🙂 AND, no, she is not staying with me as one of my own. I would never approach our community to help pay for her extensive vet bills and then, keep her for myself.

With Matrix(my turtle), for example, I paid for everything for him out of my own pocket and he is one of mine dogs that though, I initially took him into our home(NOT as a BHRR dog as we did not have space), and, thought, he could have ended up a BHRR dog when there was a spot, we kept him for us AND, not one penny donated to BHRR went his way. To ask our village to take on bills for a dog that we would keep as one of our own, is not ‘right’ or ‘proper’ and, we would never do that. 🙂

BHRR’s Angel Noelle looks forward to visiting PV Stittsville from 2:30 PM – 5:00 PM on February 15th! 🙂 She hopes to see many of her fans and believers there! AND, for a donation you can smooch her or if you are really really really lucky, she will kiss you! 😉 🙂

On February 15th, 2014 – from 10 AM – 5 PM PV Stittsville(1250 Main Street in Stittsville) is hosting a ‘Sweetheart’ Nail Trim Fundraiser
All Nail Trims/Grinds(minimum $10 donation for trim & $15 for a grind) will go to help with BHRR’s Angel Noelle’s bills

On February 15th from 2:30 pm – 5 PM BHRR’s Angel Noelle will also be at PV Stittsville to offer ‘Kisses 4 Kash
Any donation gets you a smooch of BIG sweet thanks from her and all monies shall go towards her Vet bills!

Please consider her cause. :) :) Cannot wait for her to meet and thank as many people as she can in person for EVERYTHING that is being done for her!

1. Her first emergency Fundraiser is asking to see if people may consider placing a ‘cuss jar’ at their desk, place of work, home etc. I did this for a dog in another rescue before XMAS and in just several weeks, we raised $50. If we could ask people to leave this jar up for a month to help us help BHRR’s Angel Noelle, I would be so grateful! -’Curse For An Angel’ – January 13th – February 13th, 2014 would be the dates!

2. Her second emergency Fundraiser is asking if people may consider just dropping their spare change into a cup, jar for a month to try and raise much needed funds for BHRR’s Noelle. – ‘Adding Up For An Angel’ Fundraiser – January 13th – February 13th, 2014 would be the dates!

*WE ARE STILL IN A FOOD CRISIS!!! WE ONLY HAVE 5 DAYS LEFT 🙁 🙁
OUR FIRST OF 2014* FOOD = LIFE for the animals of BHRR!
PLEASE consider our cause and donate a bag or funds for food! We thank you from our hearts for any consideration!
PLEASE EMAIL IF YOU CAN HELP US with our dog food fund/needs!

Tonight, Sean and Mason helped me removed her staples. WHAT a trooper! She was so brave…lots of treats for her! 🙂 There is one spot that is very sore for her still and, she also remains on meds – it is believed that she had some possible tube irritation(her intubation) from her amputation surgery and so, is battling an infection as a result. It can happen……

Once she is up and running(and, I have no doubt that she will!), she will have her special picnic ‘date’ with the person that won this item on her ‘Breaking Bills Bake’ Online Auction!

AND, on a side note, to the person(who really should know better for a number of reasons….) that feels that she was not worthy of us to bring in as we already have high Vet Bills(Yup! $11,000 on two dogs since January – BHRR’s Angel Noelle and the emergency gas bloat of BHRR’s Bloom), well, you do not know what BHRR does very well. 🙁 I would love for you to meet this  ‘angel’ and look into her eyes and, tell her that she should have been killed by violent means on Christmas Eve as that was exactly what was going to happen to her. As Sean says, armchair quarterbacks are going to be out there(even those that will not approach us directly yet, we will be told… 😉 ) and, we are not going to please everyone yet, ‘you’ should really know better……

We continue to state that we are not the rescue for everyone and everyone is not meant for our rescue(Yet, ‘you’ have adopted from us?) and, we will not stop assisting the special needs at BHRR and, with that comes high Vet Bills. Yes, we could bring in four or five others for the cost that it has been to save and rehabilitate this amazing dog yet, this is the niche that BHRR fills and shall continue to do so. 18 years and counting, and, we are not done yet. 😉

AND, to this person, you have not been the one paying her bills and, have not donated one penny to her cause. You have not sent one word of care or support or heart or soul. You have invested nothing into her amazing rehab. At the end of the day, while BHRR’s Angel Noelle is nothing to you, I would like to direct you to the VERY long list below of ALL those that think that this amazing pup is MORE than nothing! 😉 😀

AND, most likely, this person may well feel that we should not have saved BHRR’s Bloom with an emergency pexy when she gas bloated either. Well, I am always happy to explain(especially, *if* you had contacted me directly…. 😉 ), yet, I also know that we can only educate where we can and have to walk away when needed and focus our positive energies where it is most needed and appreciated. 🙂

BHRR’s Angel Noelle’s ‘BREAKING BILLS BAKE’ Online Auction Fundraiser
*Items do not need to be baked until the Online Auction is over. 🙂
ONLINE AUCTION: STARTS January 18th, 2014(7 AM EST) & ENDS January 23rd, 2014(9 PM EST) – We have 32 items to date!

Thank you to EACH person who has stepped up to help us with sharing this request for donations for this fundraiser, offering to make an item, sending those very precious notes of support and kindness AND, in believing in this very special ‘angel’! As always, thank you! Thank you! THANK YOU! What a brutal start to 2014, we have had at BHRR. 🙁 With being in a food crisis, BHRR’s Angel Noelle’s amputation and, BHRR’s Blooms’ gas bloat. 🙁

All monies raised in this Online Auction shall go towards paying for BHRR’s Angel Noelle’s Bills.

This sweet Rottiex puppy used to live in a crackhouse. She lived a life of constant abuse and, at 12 weeks of age, she was abused, picked up and thrown. Her leg/elbow was broken and left untreated for another 12 weeks. She received no medical treatment during this time as my leg worked to try and heal on its own. I was terrifed and in extreme pain.

On Christmas Eve, an ‘angel’ contacted Gwen and, asked if Birch Haven Rescue & Rehabiltition(BHRR) could assist. BHRR immediately stepped up and another ‘angel’ came to her rescue and took her from this very bad place as ‘because I whimpered in pain’, the Owners wanted me gone ASAP and would have killed me if I had stayed with them.

On Monday January 13th, 2014, her leg was amputated and her bills will be close to $5,000 once all of her rehab is finished. She still has to have post-off follow-ups/exams, vaccines, physiotherapy etc.

BHRR’s Angel Noelle was doing so great up to two nights ago….. 🙁 🙁 Her new pain patch was kicking in as of very early Saturday, the edema was drained on Friday night and, she was feeling so much better and then as of Sunday night, she was not acting herself. 🙁 🙁

She had been back to acting sassy and feisty and motoring along……

By Monday mid-day, she was running a fever and lethargic and almost ‘hiding’ in the corner of the couch or under the blankets on my bed OR wanted me to hold her constantly 🙁 🙁 She is now changed to new antibiotics in case there is some brewing infection. Externally, her incision site looks great.

The Vets are almost stumped as to what is happening. 🙁 She is eating, yet, not like she was. She is drinking yet, not like she was. Nothing seems ‘externally’ out of the normal. AND, I think that scares me most for, there does not seem to be anything obvious as to what is ‘wrong.’ 🙁 🙁 I gave her subq fluids and am putting a small amount of corn syrup in her water to try and entice her and keep up those electrolytes etc. I may move to Pedialyte as another option.

Please continue to keep her in your thoughts. THANK YOU to everyone that has contributed to her bills to date. I read all emails, notes, texts and cards to her and, I truly cannot find the right words to say how thankful, appreciative and, completely indebted I am to all of her ANGELS!

Please also do consider participating in her Breaking Bills Bake Online Auction! 🙂 We now have 32 fabu and yummy items available THANKS to the angels that have stepped up to offer their talent, heart and soul to assist us in raising much needed funds for her cause!
Below is a video of her right after her surgery and a photo of her the morning after her surgery and her incision site after her surgery. I stopped counting after 57 staples……

Please consider her cause. :) :) Cannot wait for her to meet and thank as many people as she can in person for EVERYTHING that is being done for her!

January 13th, 2014 POST-OP SURGERY(In Recovery) VIDEO

January 142013January 142013.JPG2
BHRR’s Angel Noelle – January 14th, 2014

BHRR’s Bloom is home! After having some complications on and off since Tuesday night, and, in and out of various Hospitals, she is now home AGAIN after having her pexy from her gas bloat on Tuesday! Phewwwwwwwwwwwwwww………….

One of the Vets at the emerge hospital said that if I had not brought her home originally and was able to monitor her round the clock, that she would not be with us today for, she needed 24/7 monitoring and complimented myself in being so diligent and committed to her care. This is not always possible at even 24/7 Hospitals for any animal to have that ‘sit by their side’ one-on-one round the clock attention and, something that I can do @ home. Saved her life the Vet said by me bringing her home, AND, Sean still is the one to be thanked for the originally saving of her life for her “KNEW HER” and, called me @ KAH and we got her in ASAP. NOT something I recommend for everyone to do of course…. 😉 🙂 I had a Vet on call near in case I needed anyone ASAP while I was home with her. I had several amazing folks on standby if I had to leave on a moment’s notice and Sean was not here and kids needed someone or the other animals needed something etc. THANK YOU to the BHRR Village in being there for her and us, so that I could focus 24/7 on her and on BHRR’s Angel Noelle. 🙂

The fact that she was peeved at me, means that she is feeling a lot better! 🙂 She gave me sass while I was working at KAH tonight and, she was given her walking papers and home we went! 🙂

Two photo’s of her below!

She had a bit of a rough ride home yet, within 15 minutes of being home, I was able to give her another Buprenorphine injection and she is now tucked in snugly in a sleeping bag(learned this wonderful trick when BHRR’s Abby had her own bloat and emergency pexy!) to keep her temp up and treat for shock. Sean is going to do the night watch on her(I will be in every couple of hours to check on her before I am back to work myself at KAH) as I have BHRR’s Noelle still being monitored closely. Tonight, I will change her pain patch and drain her building edema that started last night. Last night, she was restless and pacing and panting a bit and time for a new fentanyl patch for her!

THANK you to the angels that have donated to BHRR’s Bloom and BHRR’s Angel Noelle causes to date! We may have racked up $11,000 in bills since January yet, two very deserving dogs are alive and here THANKS to so many!!! Somehow, someway, we will figure out how to get it all paid off. We are back to owing at several Vet Hospitals and, please do consider participating in our first ever BREAKING BILLS BAKE ONLINE AUCTION  that starts Saturday January 18th, @ 7 AM EST!

Donations can be made directly to Kanata Animal Hospital (613) 836-2848 and they will take Visa, M/C and AMEX over the phone under the account of ‘Birch Haven Rescue’ for ‘Bloom’.

They will take Debit or Cash in person at 440 Hazeldean Road in Kanata, Ontario; I would be as always, so grateful. There are no words for how much the support given to BHRR means…..

BHRR’s Bloom AKA Ms. Dynamite AKA BOOM BOOM! – At KAH post Pexy

As of 11:30 AM on Monday January 13th, we ONLY needed another $135 in donations to make the surgery deposit for her leg amputation. $141 in donations came in!!!!! OMG! OMG! I was welling up with tears and just wanted to fall to my knees in sheer relief and appreciation TO all that helped make this happen!!! TY! TY! TY!

I have to update her angel below, yet, really wanted to get an update posted and, will get that updated ASAP 🙂 ….I was making small posts on the Ottawa Great Dane Group as well as on Twitter where I could throughout the day on Monday, yet, by the time I went to bed Monday night, I had hoped and wished to make a detailed blog post on her personal blog…….yet, I did not get home with her until close to midnight – I was off work at KAH at 6 PM and stayed with her until close to 6:20 pm yet, she was not close to being stable – her body temp was barely 36 degrees(THANK you again Brian for visiting and, helping to lift her so, that I could get more blankets etc., under neathe her!) and, just as with her spay, she was having a really hard time coming out of the anesthetic….something for when that right matched forever loving home finds her when she is ready to be placed up for adoption to note…..

I left her there for a few more hours, got together with two friends from the Vet world and after, dinner and in reviewing some cases etc., THANK you Dr. Zak for offering to come back with me to KAH to load her up to get her home. I WAS so grateful!!! It was icy and the extra hands was so appreciated.

She wagged her tail before I left her and, she wagged her tail when she saw me again. Her body temp by the time I took her home was 38.6 and she had had another dose of buprenorphine at 8 PM and I took home two more injections to give to her throughout the night(one dose was to be for 1 AM and, she was in such pain, I injected her at 12:42 AM) and, the other was to be given around 7 AM(yet, she was ok until 8:48 AM).

She had a rough ride home. 🙁 🙁 Thank you Sean for meeting me at the end of the laneway  – with the ice the car just cannot make it – with the truck and helping me to transport her into the home. She stayed with me in the masterbedroom that night and, Sean took the rest of the dogs with him and, slept on the main area on the couch! LOVE that man!

Understandably, she had a very large pee from being on fluids all day, and, it went right through the pee pad etc., yet, cleaned her up and, it was a long night for she was so uncomfortable and, I comforted her where I could and, I will always remember Dr. Liston telling me when, he did his first leg amputation for me, that something almost magical can happen in the middle of the night…..the dogs that have amputations make a ‘turn’ and it is such an obvious one….either good or bad, yet, it is so apparent….and, I waited and monitored and watched and watched some more and, I took a cloth and wet it and made sure her membranes and tongue were wet(they can get all pasty – in humans also), monitored her vitals and, sure enough…the closer it came to the sun to rise, there was a ‘change’……

By the time, I gave her her second injection, she was not in as much pain(the fentanyl patch would not be kicking in until late Tuesday afternoon as it takes 24 hours), and, when noon hit, she was up and ‘at’ her. Just incredible!!!! She ate a small bit of gastro food and drank some water and, kept me company all cozied up on blankets while I showered for work and, then came to hang at KAH for the day for two reasons. One, to have a good experience – all her Vet visits have not be sooooooo pleasant to date – x-rays, spay, leg amputation – and two, to keep my eye on her.

She was loved on and spoiled(I call her my ‘rotten baby’ as she is so spoiled by many!) and given treats and she ate some more gastro throughout the day and evening(she was holding out for the pizza that one of the staff was eating though!) and drank more….she finally had a small concentrated pee for me and, before I took her home, she had another small pee. No BM’s yet, but, that is not abnormal.

As I type this blog post, she has MADE it past the 24 hour milestone mark!!! YES! YES! Her incision looks great! It was a bit inflammed yesterday post-surgery(have some photo’s to post) yet, all marveled at how amazing it looked Tuesday. She is taking her meds, reluctantly yet, we are working through that….she even took some treats from the Male Vet at KAH! HUGE HUGE HUGE! Still timid and unsure of strangers and she looks towards me for guidance and direction and I encourage her ‘let’s make a friend’ and let them offer her treats, they passively ignore and, it is treated as no big deal. 🙂

On my way home, she had a short visit with a BHRR approved Volunteer – THANK you! – and, they could not believe that her amputation was only Monday. 🙂 That leg had so been holding her back, it is only forward looking now!

We move on to the next milestone of 36 hours!

I have to be so honest, I was so internally a wreck on Monday throughout her surgery. A Client that was at KAH tonight when BHRR’s Bloom was brought in with her gas bloat said how calm and focused and rationale I was for she would be freaking and, I said not much freaks me out yet, inside, I worry…. 😉

Before I keep typing a Gwennie novel….on to some photo’s! I even have some of her amputated leg…and, two of my fellow staff members took a video of it as yes, it twitched and pulsed for some time after it was amputated. The one video sent my way did not actually end up being received. I will ask again. One day, I hope to tape a full pexy surgical procedure and add it to the article I put together and one, day, I would like to do the same for an amputation. Graphic and detailed for many, yet, would be posted in the educational section of this website.

Her final bills are going to be close to $5,000 if not more, AND, still seeking bakers for her ‘BREAKING BILLS BAKING’ Online Auction coming up fast! 🙂  PLEASE EMAIL

VIDEO OF BHRR’s Angel Noelle Jan12, 2014

We are getting there…..AND, to all of her angels(YOU know who you are!!!), thank you! Deepest, most heartfelt of thank you’s….from each dollar to each offer and I have read every note, email, card(yes, this sweet wee girl has received cards from B.C., Florida, N.Y. and even Australia!) and text to her. Your words of encouragement, belief and kindness have meant a lot and, I think BHRR’s Angel Noelle approves for she licks and nibbles each card! 😀

We remain so hopeful that BHRR’s Angel Noelle’s village/community will remain by her side and continue to be there for her! She has a long road ahead and we have thousands of more dollars to raise, but, I continue to have faith. I just have to. AND, when she is up to it, she will need play visits and play dates, to keep teaching/showing her that not all hands are cruel, mean or hurtful.

Will keep posting updates!!!

UPDATE: Dr. Philibert called me at Kanata AH today. Dr. Parker, can come in on Monday January 13th, 2014 to do BHRR’s Angel Noelle’s leg amputation.

I mentioned to Dr. Philibert that she had been spayed a week ago and asked if this was ok. Dr. Philibert said that if she is doing well and feeling well, there is no problem and no need to wait.

So, we have less than 72 hours to come up with another $1,160 for a deposit. Please consider her cause! She is so deserving and worthy!

THANK you to all that have donated to date! AND, shared and cp and tweeted this amazing girls’ story!

We will be having a baking online auction, please email gwen@birchhaven.org if you are open to donating an item for this ‘BREAKING BILLS BAKING” Fundraiser.

A copy of the estimate for BHRR’s Angel Noelle’s leg amputation surgery is now posted below.

There shall be some revisions to this estimate – I do not use Metacam as my NSAIDS of choice and so will be coming home with Hydromorphone and there will not be a tech fee nor will she be spending a second day at KAH. I will take her home on fluids if necessary and, so bags of fluid will need to be added plus I will be taking an extra pain patch. This estimate also does not have antibiotics as I have cephalexin at home as well as Clavamox. Therefore, this estimate is quite a bit less than the $4,000 as originally quoted.

Yet, this will give her village a general idea of what her bills will be for the amputation.

It also does not include post op alternative rehab such as Canine Water Wellness Sessions either or post-op exams/visits.

URGENTLY NEED ANOTHER: $1,160 by Monday January 12th, 2014 @ Noon. Please consider her cause!

VIDEO FROM BHRR’s Angel Noelle HERSELF!

Dr. Adams from KAH talked to Dr. Philibert (Ortho Specialist) today re: her complete x-rays and he concurs with what all of us also feel.

“This is a serious bad malunion from an old fracture. There is nothing that can be done surgically that has any good prognosis for this dog. Arthrodesis is the only remote possibility, yet, we would not get a good functional joint as this is the elbow area. There would also be further surgeries required in her future including plate removal etc. If left alone, while she is managing ‘ok’ at this time, she is in obvious pain, it shall continue to become more chronic and, her ability to manage at all will greatly diminish to an extreme poor status plus, further damage will be seen on not just this leg yet, the rest of her body in attempting to compensate. Dogs can be so stoic when in agony. Most expedient thing is to amputate.”

We now await to see what the next available surgery spot for BHRR’s Noelle Angel shall be with Dr. Philibert. We have to now come up with another $4,000. $2,000 before her actual surgery date will be necessary. We anticipate that she will be scheduled over the next 10 days.

Begging, pleading and groveling is not something I am unfamiliar with and, please:

We are still waiting to hear re: Dr. Philibert and Dr. Parker’s findings on the latest x-rays for BHRR’s Angel Noelle. We are now heading into Thursday and, we were told that we should have heard back as of Tuesday. I know they are busy specialists, and, they will advise ASAP. 🙂 The being patient part is hard on her fans…. 🙂

Several of us are continuing to put our heads together for possible emergency fundraisers for her as we will have to put down at least 50% for any URGENT surgery and, the money donated to date for her emergency cause has mostly gone to exams, referral fees, two rounds of x-rays at two separate clinics, sedation, her spay, medications etc.

Below are some photo’s of her from December 30th, at KAH.

BHRR’s Angel Noelle REALLY could use your consideration for donations for help…..PLEASE AND THANK YOU!

BHRR’s Angel Noelle was sedated on Friday January 3rd for more x-rays – this time of the two views not taken on Monday for some reason. It reveals a terrible story. 🙁 We found where the missing elbow is. 🙁 🙁 Her leg has healed in a most bizarre manner. I cannot believe the bravery of this wee thing……

All x-rays were sent off to Dr. Liston and Dr. Philibert and, Dr. Liston also said he would talk himself to Dr. Philibert plus Dr. Parker re: them. Dr. Liston does not believe there to be any success now in any type of ‘corrective’ surgery. I have inquired as to his views now re: amputation sooner rather than waiting for later. I will not be placing her up for adoption until we do right by her and that, also means her leg. As long as she was managing well, he was leaning towards a ‘wait’ approach. Yet, now, that we have the additional ‘story’ with the extra x-rays, I would like to know his professional opinion.

We also spayed BHRR’s Angel Noelle on Friday and she presented me with a nice fecal pressie 😉 and, I did a fecal test that has now come back for roundworms. So, she is being treated on an extended dosing of Panacur 2 extra days now and then again in two weeks, as she was already being proactively de-wormed.

As we need to get BHRR’s Angel Noelle stronger and in better physical shape(muscle mass), before any surgery is done on that leg, spaying her now is a good measure to prevent any heat cycle. She did not bounce back as well as we would have liked from the spay and I obtained more buprenorphine injections to give her over the first 24 hours and then on to Deramaxx to help manage her pain/discomfort. I had her all tucked in with me in my bed(yup, me!) and monitored her vitals regularly.

Once, she hit about hour 36, it was all I could do to hold her back. She is doing fabu now! It does make me a bit worried as to how she is going to handle any surgery on that leg yet, we are all in consensus(5 Vets plus myself to date) that her leg should not be left the way it is and would like to see an amputation immediately. We just now need to know the new viewpoint, based upon the additional x-rays taken re: amputation from the other ortho specialists or if they do believe there is a corrective surgery. Not something I am leaning towards and here is Dr. Listons’ most recent feedback:

“Normally if the fractured off piece is screwed back in place it heals well, and the elbow can be pretty normal.
I’ve not seen an elbow with this kind of fracture be allowed to heal on its own. There is a lot of new bone in the space created by the fracture.  Maybe Denis or Nick Parker can cut away this new bone to allow the original piece of broken off bone to be screwed back where it belongs.  My guess is they will say no, that the rest of the joint has been growing and changing shape as well, so it would not fit well enough together  if this was done.

BHRR’s Angel Noelle REALLY could use your consideration for donations for help…..PLEASE AND THANK YOU!

BHRR’s Angel Noelle – Post-Spay Surgery – love that tongue! 🙂

Here is a copy of a post that I made on our Birch Haven Facebook Page. For those that are inquiring as to ‘where’ the page went.

As we have many followers that are not on facebook, this is a post that can be ignored. 🙂 For those that do follow us on facebook and, missed this post, here is a copy….

This is the final post as part of the ‘end of year statement’ for the BHRR BOD….that absolute privilege has fallen upon my typing fingers…

So much to say, a Gwennie Novel that would be a Gwennie chapter to truly capture it all!!

It has been an incredible year for BHRR, 13 WOW adoptions, so many faces put to names of lovely folks near and far, friendships plus relationships that have strengthened further and increased those links on that BHRR CHAIN OF SUCCESS, new kind and beautiful faces that have chosen our cause to support and believe in, the miracles of so many that were considered by several to be ‘lost causes’, r/q rescues working side by side making an much bigger positive difference to animals out there in need, the laughs, the smiles, the fun(Yes, r/q rescue can be fun!), the public education and community education events, play dates and play visits, the fundraisers(the crossposting!) the walks/hikes, the animals plus people that have touched us to the core and made our hearts just burst in warmth and happiness, the donations of lifesaving food and, other material items, the financial hand to help pay for much needed bills and more dog food, the driving and the more driving and the more driving, and yes, the hugs!
We thank each you that has been there and we look forward to what we hope promises to be an even better year for all ahead. We are NOTHING without you…..AND, to my BHRR BOD, thank you!

It has been such a hard year in others ways, and we take those important life lessons learned and will work that much more diligently in making better decisions/choices in 2014 and onward….we are focused in letting go of the things that we cannot change and that are unhealthy in the name of r/q rescuing.
We endeavour to practise what we preach, research, stay updated and keep walking the talk!
We have cried and still do cry over those that shall no longer be with us – human and animal and, candles are lit in the most honourable plus respectful silence of those that we can no longer physically touch and talk to and embrace……We miss you and, we are better in the having been touched by you…..

We thank all those that have assisted us in not changing BHRR yet, in continuing to help make it a better version of itself! I stand up and applaud each of you and then, I kneel down in the most humblest of thanks in turn, for I appreciate each and every gesture from a dollar to an encouraging word to helping to do nails or helping me to keep making dogs more well balanced and set-up for success! You may not think you have done much, yet, you have…especially on those dark trench days….

2014 MARKS year #18 for our small r/q Rescue and, that moves me into an announcement that I have been slowly sharing with people over the past few months….

The BHRR BOD has been discussing this for close to a 1 year now….

As of 11:59 PM on Wednesday January 1st, 2014; we shall be unpublishing our page….and, deactivating the BHRR BOD account.

This was not an easy step to take by any means for we understand how key networking and social media is….this page has brought us soooooooooooo much goodness and kindness and, we go into this knowing that we shall find ourselves most likely struggling even more financially and with food needs than we ever have had to date…..13 dogs were adopted in 2013, 17 in 2012 and this page is to be credited with these success stories…..

We are a small group and like many groups, we are Volunteers and lead busy lives outside of r/q rescue and, in frequent discussions with members of the BHRR BOD, the bandwidth is just not there right now for me to keep up the pace of this page plus what so many have originally been attracted plus loved about BHRR, the detailed blogs…that is very much a ‘signature’ BHRR arena and, it has had to take a backseat more often than I would have liked in 2013.

2014, is also year of much excitement(and some stress!) in my own professional and personal life – I will be defending in 2014 in re: to my PhD that I have worked pt on for too many years now…, I am furthering my training to do more work internationally with strays, street dogs and spay/neuter clinics and teaching and being mentored….I have been invited to Costa Rica and Nicaragua and, I will also begin to shadow at other Hospitals to increase my own skill set and education with qualifications plus experience. AND, I also look forward to my time at the ES when I can get there. As a result, I shall also be deleting/deactivating my personal account. Barry, Catalina and Mary will remain our eyes and ears out there in fb land.

My priority has always been to the animals under our authority and being hands on and keeping our success rates unparalled out there….that, shall not change.

It is my sincerest of wishes that by this time next year, we can publish this page again….it has become such a staple to my day and, I look forward to coming back to post of daily tips and questions and quotes and all things BHRR plus beyond to help other groups also network their own events/animals and throw our support into their corner!

I have sincerely enjoyed sharing the ups and the downs as part of our commitment to full disclosure and that, we are only perfect in our imperfections as humans….

So, it is will deepest regret that this shall be my last post on this page for some time……..

The BHRR BOD is still trying to figure out how best put forth our requests for assistance and right now, we shall go back to using the website for postings…so, please do visit uswww.birchhaven.org for YOU are the real hearts and souls of BHRR, along with the animals…..

May love, happiness and health find their way and stay with you and yours in 2014….that is my wish for you!

Raising my glass to all of you in a toast of my heart to you!

Here are the x-rays of BHRR’s Noelle – they are taken with Autumn’s phone as they are ‘developed’ x-rays, not digital…and, the words written by the one ortho specialist who saw her. Two Vets now concur that this leg should be amputated ASAP. However, he does not believe it should go immediately due to her managing as well as she is at this time on it. In the near future yes, yet, not ‘yesterday’. However, only one part of the picture was seen as we learned that only one view of her leg was taken with the x-rays.

For some reason, only x-rays of one view was done and we need to see straight on and inside and so, she is scheduled to go back for X-rays, this time at KAH on Friday January 3rd, 2013. This also explained why she did not require sedation as to do the other two views is very difficult without sedation – no matter how great the dog – and with her minimal flexion and chronic pain, would be impossible.

We are going to get the additional x-rays, Dr. Philibert will then review himself along with the first specialist and advise. There was discussion on a possible ‘fusion’ surgery yet, there is no elbow(what is on the other side view?) and, what is there is small and malformed. With all the x-rays, there will be a much clearer plus better picture formed and when this leg should be removed…two Vets believe right now and two more Vets, one being a specialist shall also becoming involved in her case, so that the best decision can be made for her….. 🙂 I am thinking sooner rather than later myself.

We also did a microchip, bw, de-worming has begun plus she is on revolution. She was fully examined by two different Vets – heart, lungs are all yay! 🙂 She weighed 16.5 KGs(36.3 pounds) and needs to lose a few pounds for her age/size at this time. I suspect possibly a beagle influence in there somewhere.

“Part of her elbow is gone, elbow does not fully flex, and there is crepitus in it. Can walk on it, but limps and when rests, shifts weight on it.
There is no detectable anconeal process, and, the lateral portion of the distal humerus is malformed and small.”

ON our way to KAH today. 🙂
By the time I went to bed last night(OK! This AM – after 3 AM), she was asking to sit on my lap and, if I was not sitting on my computer chair, she wanted to be laying on it. 🙂
She had a quiet night….ate a bit, drank a bit…..and was wagging her tail at me by the time I went to sleep.
She traveled well into KAH AND, here is a small video of her…
SHE wants to THANK all of her ANGELS for thinking of her, the consideration to her bills and, falling in love with her! 🙂
She is off to LAH for 2 PM, thanks to Autumn’s assistance and, an update shall be posted after her exam and x-rays. I will also be microchipping her today.
AND, not sure if it was Fil or Karen yet, thank YOU for that gorgeous purple collar for her! 🙂

I still find it so hard to wrap my head around that she was beaten and picked up and thrown…. 🙁 🙁

BHRR’s Angel Noelle – December 28th in emerge temp foster home & on transport December 29th, 2013
*Rottiex(I suspect Beagle in there, yet could be wrong!)

AND, what night would be complete WITHOUT a HQD story with a new addition here….
You know you have been just waiting for another one of her! 😉
Well, when I arrived home with BHRR’s Angel Noelle, I placed her carefully into a large crate…and, went to grab a bit of water to also place in her crate.
As I was walking back to her crate, I saw HQD sitting in front of the crate and, well….you know by now, giving me ‘that look’…you know the kind…head tilted slightly to the side, and imagine if she could fold her front legs like arms, and, tapping a foot most impatiently at me….
AND, here goes my mind…’oh lord…what now….think, Gwennie..THINK…’ ‘What does Salma want?’!
AND, Sean is smiling for he is just happy NOT to be the object of her displeasure or disapproval…
AND, here I am all alone in the ‘stink eye’ of the storm of HQD…
As I get closer to the crate, very cautiously of course… ….I see that HQD has one of her blankets with her….
AND, lightbulb!! Well, I think I have the light bulb moment…
I say ‘oh, how sweet, YOU want me to give her one of your special blankets to use!’ ‘what a good girl’
AND, you know this is coming……the sigh..that big body sigh that ONLY HQD can do…”WRONG Gwennie..AGAIN” is what that sigh means….along with ‘HOW can this person be so dumb?”! :p
I then get it right…I realise that it is NOT me that she wants to put the blanket in the crate, it is HQD herself! WHY have I not yet realised that I am second rate to the best doctor, nurse, therapist EVER in HQD?!!!
I open the door and bow to the royalty of HQD and say ‘after you…’
With nary a glance my way, she strides right by me and walks into the crate, with blanket in tow and begins to tuck in BHRR’s Angel Noelle with it….yup, HQD to the rescue…again!
THEN, as I wait patiently for the blanket has to be JUST right around ‘her patient’, and, then to come back out…HQD then nestles her own body around BHRR’s Angel Noelle after she is all covered in to her satisfaction and gives me one last look of ‘contempt’ and closes her eyes….
I walked away and grabbed a tissue….LOVE BHRR’s Salma…gawd, HOW I love her…no matter how much of a boot camp she keeps me in…this dog is something magical…..very special and so many of us know it…
BHRR’s Angel Noelle, you could not have a BETTER beautiful canine angel in your corner…..
IF HQD says it is ‘so’, then it it is happening….
WELCOME TO BHRR little one…

All of us at BHRR wish ALL of our friends, family plus extended family AND to all the r/q rescue folks we know out there, the very best this Holiday Season.

We hope that everyone as always, is surrounded by health, happiness and the warmth of loved ones this holiday season…..

For us, we find this a time of much reflection, and, giving plus sharing to/with others………

On Christmas Eve, BHRR was contacted re: a very urgent terrified puppy in imminent danger – at 12 weeks of age, she was beaten and her elbow/leg was broken by her O. For the next 12 weeks, she remained untreated for this terrible injury and though, her broken leg tried to heal on it’s own, it is infected and she is in incredible pain.

Amputation has been advised per one Vet recommendation at this time….the O. wanted her gone ASAP and, in mere hours of notification and some angels behind the scenes helping at a moment’s notice, this puppy is now safe.

Though, like most r/q groups out there, we are full and Vet/Food Bills continue to mount, it was clear that we were contacted for a reason and, we stepped up as it is Christmas and she, is now safe and we shall work on transport over the next few days to get her to BHRR.

As promised in a thread recently re: names, this girl shall be named ‘Angel’ – BHRR’s Angel Noelle in fact shall be her full name…..

Thank you to the special rescue angel that contacted me and thank you to the rescue angel that got her out on Christmas Eve so fast and, we shall post as we work further in getting her to BHRR. AND, thank you to the special rescue angel that stepped up to emergency temp foster one of our adoptables so, we had a spot here….to think, that all of this happened within a couple of short hours….that, is amazing!!! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

This wee one is going to need a strong village/community by her side and, I remain hopeful that people will shower her with all the love and care that she was denied up to this point….

I shall rest more easily knowing that at least one more dog is now safe………

Merry Christmas to ALL!!!
