AND this happened tonight!

BHRR’s Miss Mollie
(Saint Bernard/Standard PoodleX)
ADOPTED!

Miss Mollie, I know that you were worried and nervous tonight and wanted to be constantly by my side.

As I tell homes all the time, one should be more worried if a dog is not bonded to me over them demonstrating a strong bond…..

Miss Mollie, you have become this confident, happy, healthy uber filled with personality, wonderful mannered plus are such a gorgeous brilliant gal and please know that you will be ok! You are OK!

You have come so far during your time with me and we will always be connected and we will love forever more in each others fondest memories and in our hearts…..

You truly do not need me any longer and this is the start of a truly exciting new chapter in your life!

You now have a big canine brother, 2 sugar gliders siblings and a forever loving adoptive family that already loves you!!! You are going to have so many grand adventures plus fantastic experiences with them!

Parting is always such sweet and sometimes a bitter sorrow and you will be leaving an enormous hole in my home and soul and also for BHRR’s Burst.

Tango plus Irish will also dearly miss you too yet, they are equally over the moon thrilled for you. I know they are!

We want to thank your beautiful new family for all of their patience as we worked through our extremely detailed adoption process!

Thank you to Leanne for doing this home-visit with me, it was a pleasure!

This was my #423 foster that I have now had adopted….it truly does not get any easier….yet, it is always the right thing to do to let the ones go that no longer need you….

Congratulations Miss Mollie! You got this!!!

BHRR’s Mollie
Saint Bernard/Standard PoodleX
Looking bootiful!!

Her next professional groom session is almost done.

Thank you again Manon and Melissa!

BHRR’s Miss Mollie!
(Saint Bernard/Standard Poodle Mix)

Today, she is off to have her next professional grooming session!

BHRR does regular professional grooming on the dogs and this is required of all of our approved adoptive homes.

We work hard to get the dogs medically, emotionally, behaviourally rehabbed and that also includes them having their grooming needs met.

Miss Mollie goes in every 8 weeks.

Thanks

Melissa Lepage

of Groomingdale’s @ Pet Valu Stittesville for all of your time and talent in helping to make the BHRR dogs look and feel their best!

See you soon Miss Mollie!

BHRR’s Miss Mollie is moving under a PENDING ADOPTION!

We shall update as we can.

Love this photo of her…

My last post of my night!

Time for folks to think about what they plan on giving up for 14 days in our 9th Annual ‘Give it up 4 Autumn’ Fundraiser!

Starts Thursday November 5th and we already have 4 people signed up to date! Be creative! Some people have even done a swear jar in the past putting money each time they or someone in their office swears and then donating the monies raised at the end of the 14 days.

All money raised shall go towards helping BHRR’s Symba and BHRR’s Coupe!

More details in the poster and please do email contactbhrr@gmail.com if you would like to be part of our 9th annual event!

Here are the blog links to BHRR’s Symba:

AND for BHRR’s Coupe

For those who wish to consider making a financial donation to their worthy causes, you can do so via PayPal gwen@birchhaven.org or via email transfer to contactbhrr@gmail.com OR you can do so directly to Liston Animal Hospital 613-591-0966

We have many many many thousands of dollars to raise and we are now set back even further as sadly, BHRR’s Oslo has needed emergency care today…..

From our home to all of our friends, family & supporters, the best of good night wishes are being sent!

*NOTICE*:

BHRR shall be closed for the intake of adoption applications and shall not approve any adoptions from Tuesday October 27th to Monday November 2nd. We do not adopt out around the Halloween season and many other Rescues, shelters, pounds etc. have also begun to follow a similar protocol.

We do not believe it is in the best interest of the animals in our program, especially for dark coloured dogs.
During this time, BHRR is available 24/7, as always, for requests for assistance of animals in need.

NOTICE:

Unfortunately, we find ourselves having to address the below issues once again. Every few years it seems we must re-visit this despite being very clear on our website, Facebook and Petfinder as to how we operate.

This last 24 hours we have had not one yet, two extremely unpleasant moments.

Let us be extremely clear that if people continue to disrespect what is openly stated; we will involve legal and take the necessary action(s).

Our camera’s are running.

1) we are a foster based rescue that operates out of our home and our approved fosters. NOWHERE does it state that you can just drop by, visit or ‘get’ a dog because you want one.

It is NOT even ok to leave a voice message as a ‘courtesy heads up’ that you are on your way or will be on your way shortly to our PRIVATE property which is our home.

We would never do this to you; so do not expect it to be ok to do it to us. We get so little quality family time as it is and your blatant disregard for being mindful of our family time is not going to be tolerated.

We have a very thorough adoption process which is and has been posted over and over and over again in the last shy of 25 years.

All of the steps to be considered for a BHRR approved adoption is found on our websites and even in the application. We have done our job to have the information there. It is now up to you to read and follow the instructions.

We have posted many times over that only completed applications shall be considered/reviewed. We are NOT going to respond to ANY inquiries sent via email, text, voice message, Petfinder or Facebook. This is and has been posted many times over. So Stop. Spamming via email, text, phone, and/or Petfinder is not going to receive a response. They will be deleted and if you continue, marked as spam/junk/blocked.  It is equally NOT acceptable for you to come uninvited; to our home, private property with or without any completed application in hand.

As we also post, if a dog is listed on Petfinder, on our Website or on Facebook page as being ‘Available For Adoption’, YES, that dog is still available. We directly state that we work to keep everything up to date.

We have equally posted many times over that we are not going to make exceptions to our adoption contract, processes, policies and procedures.

2) the steps to surrender a dog is also openly stated on our website.

Do NOT leave a message and then only a couple of hours later show up at our home expecting us to drop everything and put your request above all of the other needy dogs that are equally ‘urgent’.

This is our home. This is private property.

AND do not say to one of us that you left many emails or voice messages re: said dog when we communicate closely with each other and know that this is a lie.

YOU are making our work more difficult that it ever should be and trust me, operating a highly r/q Rescue is damn hard.

BHRR is not about you; it is about the animals and please allow us to do our jobs; our non paying, 24/7, 365 days a year jobs.

We have been doing this since 1996; know what we are doing, are the experts in what we do from rescue to transport, to rehabilitation to adoption, from feeding to vetting, to training to behavioural modification and so much more.

If you want to adopt; please follow the process. If you have a dog in need; please follow the process.

The Boerskins
BHRR

AND we look uber bootiful again!

At the Vet she weighed just under 80 pounds. She had her Lepto Vaccine & Lyme vaccines and her Rabies and DHPP are good until 2022 as we gave them in 2019. Both she and BHRR’s Miss Volt had been vaccinated for Lyme per the current protocols being recommended.

In January 2020, she will be due for her next QC6 bloodtest to see what her levels are like and in the fall of 2020; she is due for her Heartworm test which also tests for the three most common tickborne diseases and we all know that she will show up positive for Lyme WHICH is why she gets the QC6 test is to be done every 6 months AND that she is to remain on tick meds year round to 1) to see if she requires additional treatment for Lyme if her levels are too high
2) the proactive preventative will work to help ensure that she does not risk further exposure to Lyme disease

This will be in her adoption contract clauses along with her to be professionally groomed on a regular basis.

We are also putting this blog post in Miss Volt’s blog so that people can be aware of the status re: her receiving future Lyme vaccines and the QC6 testing too!

BHRR’s Miss Mollie (Standard Poodle/Saint BernardX) has a big day today!

It is her regular professional grooming session with the truly lovely and caring Melissa Lepage of Pet Valu Groomingdale’s in Stittsville.

Then, we are off for her annual Vet visit.

She remains available for adoption to that right matched personality fit forever loving home.

She has an extremely detailed blog that documents her whole journey to date along with the home we are seeking for her.

Additionally, all of our adoption polices, processes and procedures can be found on our website for anyone that may be interested in her to read to help them determine if they should submit an application – also found on our home website – to members of the BHRR BOD to consider.

BHRR’s Mollie is scheduled for her annual on September 10th. On July 6th we did a repeat of her QC6 – noted in her blog post for that date – per the recommendation of her Vet team to do every 6 months and the results indicated that she did not require any further treatment for Lymes at that time! YAY!

We will do a repeat Heartworm test as though we are ok if they are done every second year; yearly for BHRR’s Mollie would make us more comfortable. This 4DX test also does test for the three most common tickborne diseases and we already know that the results for Lymes will be positive based upon her history which is why every 6 months she requires the Q6C small blood test that is sent to the lab for analysis.

She will be due for vaccines at this time also and we will ensure that they are done as BHRR does not scrimp out on whatever our dogs are due for or need. We took care of her vaccines when she first arrived and it is now time to get her annual done.

For that right matched personality fit home; a copy of her Vet Records will be passed along so that their Vet Team can be in the loop of what she has had and what she shall require moving forward.

She will remain on tick preventative year round too and we will require her right matched personality fit adoptive home to do this.

BHRR’s Mollie is scheduled for her next professional groom session on September 10th. Regular professional grooming(we are doing every 8-9 weeks) will be required by her right matched personality fit adoptive home. If you cannot afford her grooming, she is not the right dog to consider for your home.

These will be additional clauses in her adoption contract and will be legally binding. If not adhered too; we shall step in and take Miss Mollie back. Proof of the blood-work and professional grooming shall be required to be sent our way for no less than 2 years to demonstrate proper due diligence to her well being.

Should you not want to abide by these clauses; then please do not submit a completed adoption application to members of the BHRR BOD to consider. We take our adoption contracts seriously and so should you.

AND to post yet again, she is a GIANT breed canine. Saint Bernard/Standard PoodleX. She is not a single bred dog, she is a mix, a giant breed mix. Lovely and beautiful!

BHRR UPDATE!

1) In having a discussion with several members of the BHRR BOD; we shall be open as of Septermber 1st – subject to change if need be – for the intake of completed applications ONLY to consider for approved adoptions.

BHRR ONLY places per right matched personality fits and has an extremely thorough adoption screening process.

2) Unfortunately, again….in 2020 we will not be doing a BHRR Calendar. The cost is too high for what comes out of our personal pockets when that is monies that are desperately needed to keep BHRR open.

3) ISO: Auction Items for our upcoming 9th Annual Dine with the BHRR Doggies Event. Human, dogs, cat, gift baskets, gift certificates etc. ALL are welcome!

We also need draw prizes!

Please do not post your kind offers here, please do email contactbhrr@gmail.com

4) It is that time again! Time to think about being a special Secret Santa to the BHRR doggies! 2020 marks our 18th year doing this!!

As of today, we still have 21 deserving BHRR doggies in need of a special SS to call their very own!

To learn more and to sign up, please do visit the link!

5) BHRR is in urgent need of the following items:
Garbage bags – all sizes
Laundry soap
Fabric Softner
Fabric Softner Sheets
Giants Sized Dog Toys
XL Costco Dog Beds
Blankets, Duvets, Towels
Paper Towels
Pinesol

6) Please do reach out if you or someone you know has a Great Dane/Giant Breed Dog in need. We are also a highly/strongly focused special needs rescue so take in other breeds as we can that are also: Deaf and/or Blind, Sick, Senior, Neuro, Injured, Pregnant, Palliative, Nursing, Other Medical, Orphaned & Behavioural

It hurts our hearts to see dogs being put to sleep when there is an organization – we have been around since 1996 – OR to see these dogs end up in disreputable places.

Please do email contactbhrr@gmail.com if you or someone that you know needs assistance.

As we continue to receive inquiries and/or applications re: adoptions, we are making yet another blog post – there is one also made on June 8th AND another one made on July 22nd – on all of our adoptable dogs’ blogs re: our current positioning. Our Facebook page and Petfinder also state our present closure for adoption applications.

**WITH COVID-19, WE ARE NOT ACCEPTING/CONSIDERING ANY NEW ADOPTION APPLICATIONS UNTIL AT LEAST SEPTEMBER.**
**DATE SUBJECT TO CHANGE & BE PUSHED FURTHER OUT ONCE AGAIN.**

Please note that we are NOT reviewing nor approving any new applications for approved adoptions until at least September.

We will re-evaluate this closer to that date as to if we need to extend that date.

We will not be accepting any applications or any non-refundable applications fees during this time.

This is for several reasons:

1) BHRR requires a Vet Reference and as someone who works in animal medicine, I know how absolutely insanely busy we are at this time with our staff/hours. We are NOT going to jam up the phone lines doing vet references when people are trying to get through to make urgent appointments, asking for refills of lifesaving meds, needing prescription food etc.

Additionally, the government has only recently announced that Vet Hospitals can now open up to do non-essential appointments and not only operate on an urgent basis. The backlog to the Vet Hospitals is incredible.

People answering the phones at Vet Hospitals need to be answering the phones for many other reasons. Not for Vet references.

We need to focus on patient care at the Hospital and we respect and understand that other Hospitals need to do the same. We are an essential service and need to be able to provide that service to the best of our abilities and checking Vet references does not fall under that criteria.

2) We cannot nor will we do home-visits. I put my life and my family’s life at risk every day that I go to work to take care of other people’s pets. Doing a home-visit is not responsible nor does it follow the policy set forth from the government that we need to be practising self-isolating to flatten the curve.

Doing a home-visit is not urgent during this COVID-19 pandemic.

At this time, I go to work, utilize the ever dwindling supply of PPE available, I go home, I buy groceries, get gas and that is it for my public appearances. I am thinking NOT only of my dogs, yet, my family and you…I am thinking of all of the other people out there….

3) It does greatly concern us with the number of inquiries coming our way over the past few months with the vast majority being for the wrong reason(s) from people now wanting to adopt.

On a ‘good’ day, we get almost 1,000 emails and about 50 phone calls.

These past several months; we are up to almost 2,000 emails and almost 125 phone calls a day.

People telling us that they now have time on their hands. If you did not have time before you stopped working; what makes you think that you will have time once you go back to work?

Additionally, even with people going on EI; the monies coming in are not the same as if you were working and if you feel that you are struggling to pay bills, buy groceries, how do you feel that you can take on the costs of having a Giant Breed dog?

The average cost – and I have been tracking this since 1996 – of owning a giant breed per year, PRIOR to emergencies is $2,400.

All of this to say; we will not be processing any applications until it is ideal plus safe to do so.

If you send us a completed application along with the non-refundable application fee, we will be responding that we are not accepting nor reviewing applications and when we do feel that it is safe to do so, we shall begin to slowly open up.

Our Petfinder and home websites as posted are kept up to date and all details re: said dogs are on their individual blogs. Once, we do open up again for new applications, we will remain ONLY responding to completed applications. You would be welcome to re-submit your application along with the non-refundable application fee at that time for members of the BHRR BOD to consider. We will NOT be holding on to your applications nor the non-refundable application fee from now to then.

**EXCEPTION: We shall no longer be covering the cost of any banking or PayPal fees should people send this non-refundable fee. In May/June, we were out of pocket almost $100 as people were not be mindful. This is much needed money being taken away from the animals as we are covering the fees out of our own pockets and that is money that we would have used for the BHRR animals.**

Asking us what the cost to adopt is or asking to meet a dog; is all information found on our websites. Each BHRR dog has an extremely thorough individual blog that dates back to when they first arrived into Rescue. Emailing or calling us asking for more details, what our adoption fees are, wanting to come and see the dogs are not going to be responded to any longer. We have posted many times over that we are not a pound, shelter or facility and no, you cannot just visit a dog or make an appointment to visit a dog. We are an all Volunteer organization that operates from our own home and that of our approved Foster homes.

AND yes, we are not other groups – we are NOT going to take chances that our dogs could be set up for failure – and as it is the prerogative of other groups to adopt out during this brutally difficult time, it remains our prerogative to not do so. Our adoption success rates are second to no other group out there – 100% for over 10 years of operating and now 98% as we go through year 24. We will not compromise on our policies, procedures and processes.

We are NOT desperate to adopt out our dogs. All dogs that are deemed adoptable shall ONLY be adopted to right matched personality fit homes that are approved via our thorough adoption screening process.

Thanks!

Someone was groomed today.

BHRR’s Miss Mollie(Saint Bernard / Standard Poodle Mix).
AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION

Unfortunately, during COVID-19 her temp foster was not keeping up with her grooming needs and today, that was addressed.

Thank you to Melissa of Groomingdale’s and to Bre of PV Stittsville for being so incredible in getting her in so fast!

She also was seen at work today, weighed 35.6 kg (78.32 pounds) and had her repeat blood work to be sent to the lab (quant C6) as she tested positive for Lymes when she first arrived to our rescue. At that time, she was given a round of Doxycycline for treatment based upon her blood work results.

Her Vet requested to have the bloodwork repeated in the spring, yet COVID-19 interfered with that.

So, we did it tonight.

Please note that we are NOT reviewing nor approving any applications for approved adoptions until at least August.

We will re-evaluate this closer to that date as to if we need to extend that date.

THIS came on my radar last night!

Nicki is making handmade bracelets to benefit our Giant Breed Rescue & Rehabilitation Programs!

100% comes to BHRR and she is doing this indefinitely!

HOW creative, thoughtful and generous is this?!

I already bought mine!

Gemstone

“This bracelet is to support the Ottawa Birch Haven giant dog breed Rescue and Rehabilitation centre. (BHRR).

The unakite beads are a stone that is believed to help with feelings of abandonment and separation issues – very fitting as a representation for dogs that have lost their homes for various reasons. The cost of feeding, medicating, and housing giant breed dogs is much higher than rescues for smaller breeds so every little bit helps.

Paw print charm is made of brass”

NOTICE:

BHRR does not adopt out during the XMAS season due to our position that it is not in the best interest of any new addition being added during such a busy, exciting and somewhat stressful time for many.

Quite a few other Rescues, Shelters, Pounds etc. have also begun to follow a similar protocol to what we have been doing for almost 25 years.

Our XMAS Shut down period for this year is from Friday December 20th, 2019 to Friday January 3rd, 2020 inclusive.

Any applications received during this time will be processed/reviewed as of Saturday January 4th, 2020!

As always during this time, BHRR is available 24/7 for requests for assistance of animals in need. We shall also network accordingly for, as the local Great Dane/Giant Breed Rescue since 1996, the welfare of the animals are our top priority. We do not wish to see any animal end up in a disreputable place of which sadly there are far too many out there.

Thank you for your continued understanding – The BHRR Team

BHRR’s Miss Mollie!
~15 month old Standard Poodle/Saint BernardX

AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION!

Unfortunately, the person who was to do her professional photo’s is down with the flu – Feel Better Soon! – and we do not wish to delay Miss Mollie making her special announcement any longer! So…..candid picture it is!

This girl is positively da bomb! She is super social, playful – she does like to play rough and that is her play style. As she has had proper manners taught to her plus receiving appropriate mental/physical stimulation, she is understanding better that not all dogs like to rough house yet for her, that is her preferred way of playing.

She has also has had to learn that when other dogs have had enough playing her way, to let them be. She can still be persistent in wanting them to continue playing yet positively corrects beautifully.

She is a giant puppy in her playing yet, when we are out and about in public, her manners are impeccable from leash to obedience. She will stand or sit or even lay down patiently and calmly while I am talking to people or buying things etc.

She is very quiet overall. She does get excited when I come home, first get up or at feeding time yet, I have no complaints with her adorable sounds or the occasional bark.

She is crate trained and is excellent to wash, brush and do ears plus nails.

She has minimal anxiety these days when she comes to work with me – the day of her grooming, no one knew she was even there she was so quiet! – and zero when we leave the home.

Extremely proud of this stunning beauty!

In that right matched personality fit home, she shall continue to receive all of the positive balanced reinforcement, attention and stimulation that she requires to continue to thrive.

She will only go to a home that is very dog experienced – not necessarily experienced with Standard Poodles or Saint Bernards – yet, very dog experienced. This means having owned way more than one or two Dogs in ones past.

She is brilliant and beautiful and she can go to a home that works full time, part time, works from home or is retired or semi-retired. Another amazing versatile BHRR dog!

She will not go to a home that will not help her reach her full potential. This girl needs a ‘job’. She is not high energy, she is just so wonderfully intelligent with a WOW personality that has many gifts to share with others.

She is low maintenance to us in our home yet, to some she could feel like a lot of dog. She has a lot of amazing personality!

She is strong and that has nothing to do with being dominant. She is a thinker and can be both independent and delightfully dependent as we have taught her to feel comfortable on her own four feet and with herself.

She can go to a home with children no less than 13 and as much as we would love to see her in a home with at least one right matched personality fit dog, we would consider her being an only dog as long as said home had a strong doggie network in place for her. She is so social with both people and dogs.

Re: cats, she has not had any issues with the clinic cat where I am presently working yet, she is still very young and a cat could perhaps feel a bit overwhelmed should Miss Mollie want to play rough. Miss Mollie has never hurt anything during her time with us. She just throws herself right into play and can forget how strong or big she is.

Quite the contrast when she is not playing. She is then a model lady! Genteel and perfect.

Even Sean has reluctantly come over to the ‘dark’ side of thinking poodles are not so bad after all. He will deny it in public though!

Thank you’s once more are sent to Groomingdale’s in Stittsville for helping her to look her best. She is just gorgeous. That right matched forever loving home will stay on top of her grooming needs so that she is always looking her best!

For anyone interested in being considered for her, please do read her thorough detailed individual blog – she will need a Quant 6 blood test in the spring per said blog as a reminder – plus our adoption processes, policies and procedures prior to submitting an application to the members of the BHRR BOD.

She is such a ham! You did it Miss Mollie! You did it!

Profile & Body pic post professional groom session!

One gorgeous Miss Mollie(1 year old Standard Poodle/Saint Bernard) post professional groom!

Thank you Melissa & Manon of Groomingdale’s in Stittsville!

Once again they did not want me to pay and of course I did plus left a tip!

They adored her!! She is now a well mannered girl! All of my hard work pays off when you receive such wonderful compliments re: how sweet, obedient and gentle she was. She was perfect being groomed including bathing, ears, nails, comb put and blow dry.

She was equally perfect hanging out at work all day today, not making one peep.

She will be making her special announcement shortly!

Thank you again to Cassy for dropping her off for me so that she could get to her 2 pm appointment.

When I went to pick her up, she was loose in the grooming area just relaxing while another dog was being groomed.

She was happy to see me and me her.

Miss Mollie (Standard Poodle/Saint Bernard) is off for her professional groom session today with Melissa @ Groomingdale’s in Stittsville.

After this she will be ready to make her special announcement shortly!

Thank you again to Cassy for being so kind as to drop her off for her spa session!

BHRR’s Winter Wonderland
November 11th, 2019

As always, they thrive best with consistency, structure and routine and are ‘on alert’ waiting patiently for Kinsley to come home from school. That time of day!

THAT we are currently receiving 15+cms of snow and it is a snow day, does not cross their minds!

AND there is always one or two that march to their own drum – Summit (Deaf/Blind) & Salt (Deaf/Visually Impaired) are the only SMART ones, realising that Kinsley is actually in the house and are facing the house!

Nothing wrong with their noses and they have excelled with their scent training!  Summit & Salt win in knowing exactly where Kinsley is!

A great day for fun filled snow play and now all are crashed out by the fireplaces having nice snoozes!

BHRR’s Mollie(1 year old Saint/Standard Poodle Mix)

She was at the Vet tonight for her latest recheck and her Lymes Booster.

She is doing well on her Lymes Disease treatment and in February/March she shall require another blood test to determine if she is now Lymes disease free. That is the time of year that all dogs should be getting their annual testing as is and for her it will be the regular 4DX plus a Quant 6.

Her obedience has gone very well and she has made some new besties here and Ireland remains her main squeeze!

She is learning to play nicely with the other dogs – she is a bit of a bossy diva – and to learn that it is not ALL about her. She has called the shots far too long where she came from and can now demonstrate patience and even to be gentle.

Though, she shall always be a rough house player – that is the tomboy in her!

In about three weeks time, if all continues to go well, she should be ready to make her own special announcement!

We shall also have her professionally groomed in November too. I do not want those gorgeous floppy ears shaved.

Just a nice overall trim and tidy all over so that she can see and look her most beautiful!

Miss Mollie is not impressed!
(1 year old Saint Bernard/Standard Poodle)

I took her with me to get the mail and on the way, noted that deer had knocked down part of our top row of horse fencing.

So, I safely secured Miss Mollie to one of the gate posts and took the 25-30 minute to fix the top rung of fencing in that area.

She was NOT impressed that I would stop the stroll that was ‘all’ about her to get the mail in this lovely fall weather!

She is nowhere ready to be trusted off leash and so we go for walks/hikes and she gets to run with freedom in our 3+ acre fenced in yard in addition to 30 acres of our horse pasture…..

She is a bit of a diva princess!

She remains on her course of strong antibiotics for the Lymes disease and will have a recheck at the end of the month.

She is going to make a home a truly fabu addition when we get her healthy!

She is also going to be our recipient of our 8th annual ‘Give it up 4 Autumn’ fundraiser that shall begin in early November!

Miss Mollie came with me to work on Saturday September 28th.

1 year old Saint Bernard/Standard PoodleX

She weighed 32.6 kgs(71.72 pounds) and is at an ideal weight for her.

Unfortunately, in doing our proactive detailed bloodwork panel as part of our mandate of doing right by each dog that comes into BHRR; it was discovered that she is Lymes disease positive.

So, she has begun treatment which includes getting the Lyme vaccine – she will require a booster in four weeks time plus she is now on a 28 day course of Doxycycline.

All of our dogs go on flea/tick and Heartworm meds and are de-wormed. We never cut corners with our Vetting for the dogs in our care.

So, this sweet, a bit shy and nervous still of strangers young lady – yet, we have only had her 10 days – will be with us for some time as we work to successfully treat her Lymes disease.

This is a pic of her with one of my fellow work colleagues at EVC – they came in on their day off to meet Miss Mollie!

This beautiful pup is going to be an amazing addition to the right matched forever loving home when she is healthy! She really is such a doll!

Miss Mollie is doing very well!
1 year old Standard Poodle/Saint BernardX
*Once again she is NOT a purebred Saint this or a Berdoodle that. She is a mix, a delightful one, yet, a mix.*
*NOT AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION*

She has also made a couple of friends to date – Dynamo and Jigsaw AND we have determined as she has settled in more that she is play driven not prey driven – huge rough high play right now yet, her previous home did say that they could not meet her exercise and play needs – kept her in a room, segregated- so she is making up for a lot of lost time.

Crate trained, so quiet in the house – she only has just begun to show she has a voice with small sounds of happiness AND yup! As I thought, she is a full butt wagger!

Here is a picture of her helping me to tear down the posters/signage we put up for our big annual ‘Dine With The Doggies’ Event! She took this years’ place of honour and came with me to open up the gate for our amazing evening.

She is a little shy and nervous of people yet, you can tell that she wants to be loved and we already know how much love she has to give!

On a side note, for those who have expressed interest in purchasing tickets for 2020, we are already over 50% SOLD OUT! Get your tickets soon for we ended up with a waiting list for 2019 and sadly, as this is a limited attendee event, we can only have so many guests attend.

BHRR’s Mollie is coming to work with me tomorrow to begin her vetting protocol – bloodwork, vaccines, fecal testing etc.

She is eating plus drinking well and has proven to be housebroken.

Her leash manners are a wee bit rough but we shall get there and her one bad habit is jumping, we are working on it!

Happy Friday Morning to all!

BHRR’s Mollie!
(1 year old Saint Bernard / Standard Poodle Mix)
*Please do not tell me she is a Saint this or Berdoodle that etc. She is quite simply a mix.

A wonderful beautiful mixed breed girl!

Morning walk!

She had a great night and is drinking, had her first pee and is taking some treats.

A bit nervous yet, responding well….

It is almost like she has always been here! Going to so enjoy having her here and look forward to her personality to shine – it is in there….I can see it!

We are home and she is settling in well….

She is smaller than the pics make her out to be, so a small ‘giant’!

Miss Mollie, I look forward in getting to know you and you us!

She is about 1 year of age and is a Standard Poodle/Saint Bernard mix.

Thank you again Megan for picking her up and meeting me! It allowed me to do so many errands and prep for tomorrow’s big day here!

Megan Wright has her!

Thank you! She would not even accept gas money and I am deeply touched as I know what is costs in time and heart and energy and money to do these transports.

Drive safe and see you both soon!

I am now on my way to meet up with them!

Welcome to BHRR Miss Mollie!

~1 year old female Saint Bernard/Standard PoodleX

Reason for surrendering as O. has a senior – 11 year old female Standard Poodle and the puppy is a bit too much of a puppy for the older gal.

O. also has a grandchild that the puppy has bumped and knocked over.

O. is not able to give her the exercise, time and attention that Miss Mollie needs. This has not been an easy decision for her O.
