Frost “T” joined us as we participated in the annual OHS Wiggle Waggle Walk and won the ‘Biggest Dog Contest’! He has has also just celebrated on September 23rd, 2006; the 9th MONTH survival miracle mark! I can truly not ask anymore more of heaven and the stars for what I have been given to date; yet my heart SO wants years and years more with him. He is still almost 5% dehydrated due to his chronic diarrhoea and his favourite foods of late involve homemade French Baguettes, homemade pizza and homemade hashbrowns! I was so touched by the number of people at the Wiggle Waggle Walk who recognized him from our website or remembered him from being at KAH with me when I work. He has touched many people with his beautiful soul plus spirit!

I can’t imagine how hard it is to let one of them go, but this is what it’s all about, right? I just love following your dogs because even though we haven’t met, there isn’t a doubt in my mind that these dogs are going to be adopted to the most amazing, deserving people, ready and willing to love and spoil them. Please give all the dogs a kiss from me, and an extra special hug to Mazda, Fancy & Lady. Great job….

Your very welcome Gwen, you do such good things I had to contribute to help you continue.

Based upon more information sent to us by the potential adoptive home; this application is now on ‘hold’ and Boba is once again AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION!!!!

PENDING ADOPTION!!!!

We may have found that best matched Foster Home for Fancy. We also have three other Danes under a possible pending adoption at this time; so if we do not plan on taking in anymore animals; there would be less here and I can then work with Fancy the way I feel she needs and that would be wonderful as well!

We find ourselves becoming quite protective of Mazda as most of the inquiries we are receiving are about her ‘looks’ and the impression she gives off through her pictures and how that will fit into the ‘status’ of their community. Many of these inquiries are seeing Mazda as a ‘status’ symbol and that is not how BHRR adopts out animals. Yes, she is stunning but we will always place as per best matched personality into the right homes. She will also not go to any homes that have contacted us seeking her as a guard dog, those wanting to use her for breeding purposes (she has been spayed as are all of our animals in our program), those that want the ‘biggest’ dog on the block or those that wish to have her as an outdoor dog. Answering these inquiries of which we are averaging almost 20 a day just on Mazda; will no longer be done. Serious inquiries plus those that submit an application along with the non-refundable application fee will only be reviewed and answered moving forward. Mazda deserves that loving spoiling home like every other Rescue that comes into our program and our responsibility is to her wellbeing.

Sam is a very different dog these days. He is running, jumping, pouncing and just an extremely happy plus affectionate boy. He is showing wonderful confidence in himself, his surroundings at our place, us, the horses and the other dogs. He still needs more outside stimulation, socialization and reassurance yet he is doing the baby steps to accomplishing this AND we could not be more proud! He has continued to get along great with all of the other dogs and plays with them daily. His best bud is still Cletus. Sam has not shown us any aggression in the five weeks he has been with us. He has displayed a little possessive over his high value item, a pig’s ear yet with reassurance and a quick vocal ‘check’ to Samari; he has settled down beautifully. He is not a ‘fight’ personality whatsoever. He is just worried about losing his special treat and we have been there showing him that that will not happen. We have been teaching Sam that he will never have to worry again about where/when his next meal is going to come from and that treats plus toys will be a part of his life forever. Sam is almost ready to go and he has been such a dream to have with us. We can only hope that his new home will update as Sam & Cletus have won the hearts’ of many over the past 7 weeks.
