THANK you again to BHRR's Cosette's fabu mom for working with members of the BHRR BOD on this poster!

The HOBBITS of BHRR's Bilbo & BHRR's Baggins are NOW AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION!!!

They are still sleeping in a crate at night, have a very rare accident in the house(This could digress should they be adopted soon) AND they will NOT be adopted together!

They shall be adopted to separate homes.

They are good with all other dogs, cats, people etc.

They both still do get car sick and if you fast them the night before travelling, they do not get sick and if they have both been very healthily mentally and physically stimulated, they also shall not get sick. They seemed to be limited to a 35 minute drive before the puking begins…..still something they could outgrow.

They sleep well throughout the night and both are quite quiet. BHRR's Bilbo sometimes uses his voice to say 'I am ready to go' when it is the morning.

BHRR's Baggins loves laying around your feet and to be near you.

They can go to a home that works ft(as long as the home comes back at lunch to let them out), pt, from home, retired or semi-retired. Their leash manners are FANTASTIC!

My consistency, time, patience, dedication to their obedience regime has paid off. The compliments that I get when they are out is WOW!

Both attended the Take The Plunge Event on the Sunday in June – until we were rained out and so many did not even know we had them with us in our booth for they were so well behaved! 🙂

Katoby Distribution is having their FIRST even Campaign For Rescue Voting Contest!

This contest was created via nominations and on Monday July 1st, BHRR received an email regarding this voting contest and what a surprise PLUS honour to note that we were one of the organizations chosen to participate!

They have 4 prize packs totaling over $4000 in valuable food and products to give to the rescue groups you think deserve it! Top 3 dog rescues and the top cat rescue will each win a prize pack (as determined by votes). One lucky voter will also receive a price pack worth over $250!

Voting ends July 15 at noon – one vote per day per person!

THINK good thoughts for The Hobbits as later today – Thursday June 13th is their TWINKLE removing surgery! 🙂

Depending on how they are feeling, they may be with us at TTP on day this weekend.

UPDATE: June 13th Afternoon:

UPDATE: The Hobbits had their neuters today and everything went great! Their hips were thoroughly examined while they were under and thumbs up for both!!
Both did have car sickness again on the way into KAH and they still could both outgrow that.
BHRR's Bilbo is now 44.22 pounds
BHRR's Baggins is now 39.82 pounds
Both are off fluids and just took them out and no pees yet…..
So cute they are!

They did not get sick on the way home!

BHRR's Baggins still does not menace normally yet, he is doing fantastic! He tracks and nothing is holding him back! Decreased or absent menace response means, he does not blink when a hand is waved toward the eyes.

BHRR's Baggins & BHRR's Bilbo – Just as I was ready to drive home from KAH!

The Hobbits are at work with me today for their last boosters plus presurgicial bw for their neuters. They are now 16 weeks old!
Baggins is now 36.3 pounds – up from 24.42 pounds a month ago
Bilbo is now 40.04 pounds – up from 27.5 pounds a month ago
At the rate they are growing, we are looking at big boyz!!

Both are still experiencing some car sickness and they could still outgrow this…..

They did not get sick at all on the way home.

We were also not able to draw their blood today as their veins were very wiggly and so, after a few pokes, we ended trying do while under sedation the day of their neuter.

Here is a VIDEO of them both today at KAH!

The Hobbits were to head to KAH with me today for their Rabies booster plus pre-surgical bw for neutering yet, it has been postponed until later.

Below is a VIDEO & a photo of BHRR's Bilbo lounging in the long grass before Mason cut it,  after his special picnic date on May 11th, 2013.

THIS is my latest GOOD WITH CATS UPDATE post!

This lovely Canine has proven to be 'good' with cats. YET, as always, careful integration is an VERY important key and the personalities also!

I also want to stress that THE Hobbits of BHRR's Baggins & BHRR's Bilbo are only mere puppies right now….their 'cat' goodness could well change as they mature.

We cat test our dogs as we can. Sean is allergic to cats and most of our own dogs are scared of cats and yet, doing thorough evaluations plus assessments and getting to know the BHRR dogs thoroughly, my knowledge of them and experience with them and gut/instinct have gone a long way in helping to determine if the dogs may or may not be good. Others do remain an 'unknown'.

The Hobbits of BHRR's Bilbo & BHRR's Baggins were at the Vet with me yesterday and…..

Hobbit Bilbo now weighs – 12.5 Kgs(27.5 pounds!)
Hobbit Baggins now weights – 11.2 Kgs(24.42 pounds!)

Sniff…they are growing up….and FAST!

At the rate they are growing, they should be around 75-80 pounds when full grown….yet, I shall see what their next visit weigh-in looks like. Could just be a growth spurt!

Ears, hearts, lungs, joints are great for both!
Eyes for Hobbit Bilbo thumbs up too!
Eyes for Hobbit Baggins much improved since last visit….in discussing with his Vet last night, there are some theories on this and he could possibly continue to improve as he ages and could end up with zero impairment as he matures. They are going to research more. He is still not 100% 'normal' yet, he is NORMAL to all that know and love him!

The Vet believes that it could be a developmental thing with BHRR's Baggins and that as he ages, his eyes will become stronger and more normal and he could well end up with no impairment. NEW ground for me in this!

Matters naught to me if he is or is not visually impaired> I have been working on his scent and touch training and he has been ROCKING it! The puppy that once was so scared he screamed and cowered behind all before I got him from what I was told when he was first picked up and the puppy that wedged himself behind my one toilet is NO longer! HE is rocking his leash and his sit and his is one personality filled dude! HE is brill!

BHRR's Bilbo is much 'softer'….and he did not get all in the brains area….. 😉

AND here is a VIDEO taken of The Hobbits with our PRU FREEDOM DOG Sir-Bounce-A-Lots on April 28th, 2013

BHRR's Bilbo & Baggins came on Saturday April 20th to the Pet Appreciation Event at PV Stittsville AND MAN! Did they obtain some fans.

One of our approved BHRR Volunteers that day was amazing to assist me in keep explaining to people that you do not just 'toss' us some money and then get to walk away with the puppy you want. We continued to have to explain how our adoption processes work and that these two are not even yet, ready for adoption and why we do not take applications until they are ready.

Below is a photo of folks that have become very dear to the hearts of Sean & I of PV Stittsville holding The Hobbits! 🙂

They had a great day!!!

BHRR's Baggins continues to become more and more social, SMART! OMG! He is brill!
BHRR's Bilbo is smart, yet, a different kind of smart. 😀

Both keep stealing hearts and taking numbers wherever they go AND their leash manners are almost completley rocking, they have their names, sit, stay down to a 't' and are very eager to please! They are such happy wee boyz!

They are both heading to work with me on Monday for their next set of boosters and a new weight! I wanted to snag the new weight on Saturday but, our scale at KAH died on Thursday night and the new one that came in on Friday has not yet, been caliberated. CANNOT wait to see where they are at now for it is getting very hard to carry them in two arms! The one arm carrying is long gone! 🙂

Many continue to also think they are IWx and we continue to say that we KNOW what their parents were – Mom (Rottie) & Dad (Olde English Sheepdog x GS). 😉

You can see my 'scrub' top just barely as I did a great 'duck' before the photo was taken…I am a in the trenches kinda person. Not in the limelight person. 😉

Our small r/q group was chosen by PV Stittsville to be the recipients of funds raised during the month of April as part of their Pet Valu Appreciation month and they also invited us to their locale last weekend AND I had so much fun planning the day/events with PV Stittsville! THEY also invited us back for 2014! HOW honoured am I!

We handed over the $826.02 and the $411 we raised at our tables over both days on the weekend so that they could write one big check to BHRR at the end of the month. In visiting yesterday, I felt like I needed to take a seat when I was told the total to date that had been raised over the past month….

I can say that this amount between the PAWS and other events hosted over April, that we can put down a big hunk of change towards BHRR's Maverick's upcoming two separate leg surgeries. How can one truly thank everyone that has helped to make that happen?! Words truly do fail me at times….

The wee Hobbits came to work with me on Monday and WOW! Better and better and better! 🙂

More outgoing and social and the housebreaking is getting there…. 😉

BHRR's Baggins' car sickness is almost completely gone now…just some very mild wet chin. They had to have been so stressed on Friday and then with me taking them in yet, another car ride on the Saturday. Poor BHRR's Baggins had a puke in the car on Saturday and I had heard that they got sick on Friday on the transport.

YET, nothing on Monday!

BOTH are great travellers.

BHRR's Baggins weighed 6.4 kgs(14.08 pounds)
BHRR's Bilbo weighed 7.1 kgs(15.62 pounds)

They are still skinny and a lot more hydrated and putting on the weight wonderfully! 🙂

ANOTHER huge hit day for them at KAH! 🙂

This week, BHRR was one of several groups contacted by another lovely rescue to see if we could assist with a litter of 9 puppies.

With the recent adoption of BHRR's Cosette and the then pending (now approved) adoption of BHRR's Kris Kringle, the bringing 'Mozart'(known to BHRR as 'Rook') home again, that very sadly, we would not be bringing in the blind Bruce, the possible placing of another dog in an approved BHRR temp foster home; we stepped up to offer/commit to assist two pups.

When asked, we passed along other names of groups we felt were r/q to see if they could also help this Rescue place the pups. They were also working hard to grab momma and though, the home did not surrender momma, she will be spayed.

BHRR offered to donate funds to help pay for her spay yet, this sweet group has that all covered.

The rescue then learned that four of the pups had become placed by this home yet, five still needed homes and with the beautiful collaboration of several kind r/q Rescues, all pups have a safe refuge!

These pups were destined to a life on chains, under socialised and neglected should the wonderful group that contacted us not be so proactive in their welfare.

Our two 'wee' giants – Rottie(Mom) x GS/English Sheepdog(Dad) shall arrive March 29th, 2013 and we are loving the surprise as to whether we shall have girls or boys or one of each come our way!

It always matters naught to BHRR sex, colour, age etc…we just feel blessed to be able to help those next in need canines. :)

The pups are 8 weeks of age and it has been a long time – 2012 – since we had puppy breath here at BHRR! What a special Easter these babies shall now have.

UPDATE: WE HAVE BOYZ! :)

BHRR's Baggins weighed 5.8 KGs(12.76 pounds)
He is being dewormed for Rounds and Tapeworms
He received his first vaccines on Saturday
He was microchipped

**HE is also visually impaired

NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION!!!
