According to Miss Pentu’s foster mama, she is already exploring!

I cannot wait to get her professionally groomed when she is ready so she can feel plus look her best.

She was super popular on the long transport, and not hard to see why. Such a sweetheart!
Thanks to her wonderful foster mama for sharing this photo!

Got her!!

On my way to meet up with Janie in Kanata!

She is beyond lovely!!! Miss Pentu, it is a true pleasure to meet you finally!

Welcome to the BHRR family!

AND Miss Pentu is on her way!

She is an 8-month-old Bernese Mountain Dog/Standard Poodle mix. She is said to be about 62 pounds and tomorrow we will get a re-weigh.

She began travelling super early this AM. I am being told she is a sweetheart! She is travelling with quite a few cats and a couple of very young pups & doing fantastic.

I will be meeting the volunteer transport early evening and then driving her to her fabulous foster mama, Janie!

I also want to thank one of my own Great Danes for donating one of her gently used collars and leashes to give to Miss Pentu. Every girl should feel/look beautiful!

I want to thank her soon-to-be foster Mama for extremely generously offering to pay for her food & buying her an XL Costco dog bed, plus offered to pay for her professional groom. Humbled!

The Beans are to be thanked, too, for donating some of their toys plus a bag of fish-based treats to Miss Pentu. We will figure out more toys & fish-based treats once payday comes.

Tomorrow, she is off to the Vet & as previously posted, we are going to use Mr. Bruce’s adoption fee to help go towards her, which are going to be extensive vet bills as she is rehabilitated.
Soon beautiful girl…..we will meet soon. We have been working on saving you since January….

Safe travel wishes are being sent to all!

Miss Pentu is scheduled to arrive tomorrow. She is a Bernese Mountain Dog/Standard PoodleX. This is not a purebred.

This is a picture from the shelter of her, and here is some information from her report. She was spayed at the end of January and has been in a foster home via the shelter until transport could be arranged to us.

“pulls a bit when walking but needs help to be more confident; she is shy. Fearful of loud noises, cars/trucks going past, other animals, and stairs. Happy, calm and relaxed riding loose in the car. Some pulling on walks but mostly fine – she is scared of strange people and dogs. Issues chewing things they shouldn’t; she meets another dog the first thing she does is hide. She normally cowers. more nervous if you’re standing vs. if you crouch.”

Once comfortable, she can be that excited, mouthy, jumpy puppy. So manners 101 will be implemented upon her arrival! We are told that she is a nice girl and sweet.

She is booked to see our Veterinary team on Monday, February 27th. She will get her DHPP booster, her first Lepto and Lyme vaccines, a re-weigh, placed on flea/tick preventative, obtain more de-wormer, have her skin checked, have a thorough exam, and have some bloodwork done.

She had her rabies, bordetella, and first DHPP plus was routinely de-wormed while in the shelter.

We are told that she presently weighs about 62 pounds, and we look forward to meeting her! Gwen will be picking her up from the volunteer transport, and dropping her off at her foster home in Kanata. Thank you again Janie for stepping up to foster this beautiful girl!

From Mr. Jack’s lovely foster mama….AND, I am told that Mr. Jack did get off the couch when his foster mama noticed.

Nothing like an afternoon nap with one of the best kitties in the world, Fig!

We are also told:

“Jack is doing great! He is a big ball of wonderful energy and is so affectionate. He loves his toys he got for Christmas and loves playing tug with Phoebe.”

His sister Miss Chrissy will be going up for adoption shortly. We deliberately kept from posting her up for adoption as it was best for Miss Janet to have her sister. With Miss Janet’s tragic passing due to cluster seizures, Miss Chrissy will go up for adoption.

The dog that misses Miss Janet the most though is one of our own Danes. Those two were mischievous peas in a pod!

Mr. Jack remains AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION!

Today, BHRR approved its first adoption of 2023!

BHRR’s Bruce
ADOPTED!

It is also our 435th adoption since our inception in 1996!

Small and mighty, we remain!

Mr. Bruce, you really are a dream, Dane. Just a dream. I have had the absolute honour of not only being contacted to bring you into our rescue, yet getting to see you at Vet visits, visiting you when dropping off food, goodies, SS pressies, and even taking you to some Vet visits.

Then, we got to have an overnight together last night, and yup, the relationship that we have forged slowly over the past months was as strong as ever!

Then, tonight…your home visit…..you made me proud! Your progress – your SA was so heart-wrenching, your emaciation level equally so when you first arrived -, with your trust, that while you would check in with me regularly and had moments of being unsure, you were also willing to explore, munch on your delicious smoked dino bone, to drink, and be curious, demonstrated how far you have come. That you are genuinely ready for this next big step.

We cannot thank the shelter enough for reaching out to us to assist you; we cannot thank your emerge foster mama enough for safe harbouring you; we cannot thank your temp foster mama enough for taking excellent care of you, we cannot thank our expert Vet Team, our amazing supporters enough either for helping us that included the kind angel that bought you your own Wiggle bumz collar/leash to every person at the Tim’s drive-thru for the kind hands plus touches.

AND thank you to your forever-loving adoptive mama for going through our thorough adoption process to help ensure that you are the right Dane for them and vice versa!

Remember, dear boy; this is not a goodbye; this is a hello to a new wonderful human member being welcomed into the BHRR family clan! Your village shall forever surround you and your human

Mr. Bruce’s adoption fee will be used to help Miss Pentu – thank you again to Janie Wall for stepping up to be her awesome temp foster mama – who arrives this Sunday! She is heading to the Vet on the 27th, and we know that her own vet bills shall be vast as we deal with her skin issues.

As we continue to struggle with finances to keep BHRR afloat, Miss Pentu is our first save of 2023. She is the next in need of us!

The BHRR CHAIN of SUCCESS continues strong as we slowly transition over the next ~9 years!

We are on our way!

To Mr. Bruce’s home visit for a possible approved adoption.

This Dane is truly a dream!

The best of houseguests – we brought him into our own home as of last night from his wonderful temp foster, so happy to see him again!- and it has been an honour having him in our rescue program.

AND if this is not his right-matched forever-loving adoptive home, that is ok.

We will update as we can!

Our 4th Annual ‘Won’t You Be My Valentine’ Fundraiser is live!

LAST CALL!

Our Annual ‘Won’t You Be My Valentine’ Fundraiser is live!

Running through until the end of the day tomorrow, February 15!

Please help us give each doggie a special Valentine!

Thank you to everyone that has become a Valentine Angel to date, and to those asking, here is our email transfer address to send the vet bill part of your generous donation: contactbhrr@gmail.com

Please let us know if you would like to be a Secret Valentine!

Thanks in advance for any consideration!

Miss Asante has her two-week post-op checkup today at 5 PM at EVC.

This picture was sent to us 1-week post-op by her foster family.

Gwen has also asked for more Dermaaxx as the radiologist, plus her expert vet team has determined that she has a growing condition, which is most likely Pano. She is on strict exercise not just because of her healing eyes yet for her body.

She has responded well to the Dermaxx, and Gwen would like the foster to have more on hand.

We are also very curious re: her weight as, at one point, she had been a bit chubby. Her caring foster home has been super diligent plus dedicated to her well-being, and we cannot thank them enough for all that they have done and are doing for Miss Asante.

Should Miss Asante get the thumbs up today after her recheck, we will be working on her professional photo shoot, and from there, she will be ready to make her own special announcement!

Mr. Bruce would like to share the exciting news that he is moving under a PENDING ADOPTION!

We shall update as we can.

He is such an unbelievably awesome Dane!

***February 3rd is Gwennie’s Birthday!***
