We specialize in assisting Giant Canine Breeds & Equines & focus on the Special Needs - (Deaf, Blind, Sick, Senior & Injured)

Giant Breed Definition: Deerhound, Great Dane, Great Pyr, Wolfhound, English Mastiff, Newfoundland, & St. Bernard
*Since 2001; we have been working almost exclusively with Great Danes*

Our area of assistance is across North America & our area of placement is mostly in Eastern Ontario

We provide a safe ‘haven’ for animals for life should they not be adopted or are deemed un-adoptable

We are a non-profit program and we are an all Volunteer organization without any salaried employees

Mission Statement:

Birch Haven Rescue and Rehabilitation Services; located in Eastern Ontario, Canada on 148 acres was founded in 1996 as a personal rescue to assist those Canine and Equine animals that have been abandoned, abused, neglected and otherwise mistreated by rescuing, fostering, rehabilitating and then placing them into their new and forever loving homes.

Birch Haven also tries to promote responsible pet ownership through Humane Education, Training, Socialization and Public Awareness. We are also involved in Therapy work.

We are very small, private and are committed to personal rescue plus re-homing that is completely financed by monetary gifts, owner surrender plus adoption fees as we do not any receive government, provincial or corporate funding. We are financed mainly out of our own pockets.

We also work very hard to assist various breeders, rescue groups, shelters, organizations and friends in placing rescues or re-homing animals that come into their hands. We only organize and facilitate in these situations.

NOTE: DUE to the large number of inquiries directed our way daily, non-urgent replies can take up to 3-5 business days.

BHRR’S URGENT NEEDS: Office Supplies of stamps, Meaty Beef & Dinosaur Bones, Giant Sized Dog Toys, Dog Collars; Comforters/Duvets for Crates; Sentinel, Kuranda Beds, Costco Dog Beds, US $ to help the Cruelty Case Danes & Dog Food
(As of July 2nd, we have enough dog food to last ABOUT 34 days!)

*For those that are wishing to contribute to BHRR for this Microchip Fundraiser yet are unable to attend on Sunday July 12th; I am heading to Belleville on Sunday July 5th. This is to meet up with two people to microchip their 5 Danes; so please email Gwen for logistics of place and time if you wish to also have your dog or cat microchipped there instead!*

*I am beginning to also collect monies from those that have ‘reserved’ tickets for our upcoming 2nd annual BHRR Boat / Dinner Cruise being held in October. Only 12 tickets left; reserve soon! 2008 year was an absolute blast! In less than 3 hours; $2,221.38 was raised to enable us to continue assisting animals in need of our programs like BHRR’s Dana, Ocean & Mr. Parker Paws.
