We specialize in assisting Giant Canine Breeds & Equines & focus on the Special Needs - (Deaf, Blind, Sick, Senior & Injured)

Giant Breed Definition: Deerhound, Great Dane, Great Pyr, Wolfhound, English Mastiff, Newfoundland, & St. Bernard
*Focusing almost exclusively on Great Danes since 2001
Our area of assistance is across North America & our area of placement is ONLY in Ontario plus Quebec
We provide a safe ‘haven’ for animals for life should they not be adopted or are deemed un-adoptable
We are a federally registered non-profit program and we are an all Volunteer organization without any salaried employees
Mission Statement:
Birch Haven Rescue and Rehabilitation Services Inc.; located in Eastern Ontario, Canada on 148 acres was founded in 1996 as a personal rescue to assist those Canine and Equine animals that have been abandoned, abused, neglected and otherwise mistreated by rescuing, fostering, rehabilitating physically plus behavourally and then placing them into their forever loving homes.
Birch Haven also tries to promote responsible pet ownership through Humane Education, Training, Socialization and Community Public Awareness. We are also involved in Therapy work.
We are very small, private and are committed to personal rescue plus re-homing that is completely financed by monetary gifts, owner surrender plus adoption fees as we do not any receive government, provincial or corporate funding. We are financed mainly out of our own pockets.
We also work very hard to assist various breeders, rescue groups, shelters, organizations and friends in placing rescues or re-homing animals that come into their hands. We only organize and facilitate in these situations.
NOTE: DUE to the large number of inquiries directed our way daily, non-urgent replies can take up to 5 business days.
BHRR URGENT NEEDS: US & CDA Stamps, Bubble Envelope Mailers; Meaty Dinosaur Bones; Giant Sized Dog Toys; Dog Crates(37″ & 45″ in height), Comforters / Duvets - ALL sizes; Pinesol; Laundry Detergent; Bath Floor Mats, Sleeping Bags, BBQ & Dog Food.
(Sept. 3rd - BHRR has enough dog food to last ABOUT 18 days & Current Bills are $9,354.68)
