From having worked in aquatics for over 16 years; I feel this is a very important thing to know. 🙂
PFD stands for personal flotation device and while they are wonderful things, if you or your animal while wearing one of these are knocked into the water and become unconscious or become unconscious and then fall into the water; what teh PFD will do is float you but on your face and therefore you will not be able to breathe.
What is recommended to purchase are lifejackets for you and your four legged family members to use if you are going to be on the water. If you become knocked out in a lifejacket, it will float you on your back and you and/or your pet will still be able to breathe.
