I brought BHRR's Spice into work today for as of last night, she was limping.

I had put all dogs out for the night for a final pee and she was out just minutes and she came in limping…sigh. 🙁 Poor baby…

BHRR's Spice had told me that her New Year's Resolution was to not hurt or try to kill herself and not even 24 hours into the New Year….

She let me look it all over and there was nothing stuck in between her toes like ice or a small stick and she was doing some weight bearing.

I put her on crate rest and 50 mg of Deramaxx. She still wanted to play, eat and drink normally. Yet, limited activity for her. She had a really good night, nothing abnormal noted.

There was no notieable swelling either. As of this AM, she was not weight bearing at all and the foot/knee was a bit swollen.

I cancelled BHRR's Abby's appointment for tonight and brought in BHRR's Spice instead. With the worry that I did not want her foot stepped on, I did not bring both into KAH.

She weighed 25.90 KGs(56.98 pounds) and on the way in, she had a small puke in the car too. 🙁

A full exam did not reveal anything different than my own findings from last night and this AM. I asked for x-rays and I will post them later as I am still at work(on a break!).

We ended up x-raying more than just the left paw as her Vet wanted to compare both feet to see what is 'normal' for her.

Per the findings:

"Radiographs of the L and R forepaws do not reveal any obvious fractures or other abnormalities.

dorsopalmer and lateral views of the L and R carpus and mannus are reviewed
L DP – there is a soft tissue swelling of the digit 4, no apparent fractures.
L and R lateral – there are mineral opacities present at the doral aspect of the metacarpophalangeal joint. Due to oblique angle?

No bony lesions seen that would cause acute onset lameness of LF"

Treatment Plan:
Continued Crate Rest & Deramaxx 50 mg SID for 5 days. Should lameness not resolve, further investigation shall be required.

We also did her nails and I noticed several Papiloma's in her mouth and on her lower lip. Sigh….

Poor BHRR's Spice.

Her right cherry eye is looking fairly resolved now, yet, her left eye is not well and the move forward plan is not to do yet another surgery until she is older….with all the failures to date. So, she shall not be placed up for adoption until such time as we can resolve that for her.

SHE was a SUPERSTAR today!!! OMG! She won over so many people with her charm and 'spice'!
