It’s time for a long-overdue Miss Amy update!

Miss Amy was so excited when she arrived for surgery, ready to visit some of her most favourite people in the whole wide world!

She had her surgery that was scheduled to remove her femur on September 26th, yet as the ortho surgery followed the fistula path of where the incision had not been healing, two bone fragments from her femur were found.

These were the cause of her body continually trying to heal – yet could not – since the dehistence and ensuing complications.

When everything went necrotic, two of the three bacteria found were from fecal contamination – pieces of her weakened femur were then chipped off.

So the bone chip fragments were removed, she kept her femur, and Miss Sophie spent the night, and her foster picked her up the following evening.

We are now trying to schedule her in for a recheck to be sure all is, in fact, finally healing up, so that she can then make her own special announcement!

$456 has been generously raised towards her vet bills – this latest surgery bill is almost $1,600, as I also wanted her to have heartworm and tick-borne disease testing done and to have more flea/tick and heartworm medication dispensed.

Over $3,000 is still owing from previous vet bills for her.

If anyone has any items that they would consider donating to an online auction, please do let us know!
